Hope you had a lovely Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. The Britannia is a thing of beauty without a doubt - I do believe a snifter of your preferred tipple is in order - well done Julia. Tom

The 3 holes below the regulator I believe are for the exhaust ejector

I was interested in your version of the offset regulator mech. I did the same in my 4-8-4 smokebox (10 7/8" id). I had no idea it was a commercial thing, I just "head scratched" until I'd figured it out! The Snifter valve nut was rounded over on 1 side, I would have put that toward the smkoebox shell and allow better seating on the brass washer! I hope you dont mind the suggestion. Its what I did to mine. I did ( briefly) consider putting a radius under the outside of the valve to snuggle up to the outside of the SB. Nah, too hard! Thanks for sharing your adventure.😊

Hi Peter thanks for your suggestion it's not rounded over much but should make it a snug fit so I will do that. 😀 I think Model works/ Winston had several attempts at the regulator design!

Another very interesting video Julia. Great work skills. Like you I’ve been watching Myfordboy for a long time. Even made one of his engines. Happy holidays and a peaceful New Year Julia. I’m happy I’ve found your channel. Enjoying and learning from you. All best wishes. Nobby

morning Julia nicely coming together. i've never had to use a snifter valve on the SP's so not sure what they do or for. Still learning!!! "Good Game" "Good Game" on finding the Brucey Bonus!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 ATB Kev
@julias-shed18 күн бұрын
Hiya Kev they are not needed on slide valve engines. The slide valves lift off the port face if there is any vacuum. 😀

@@julias-shed oh, thanks for that, learned me something there. many thanks Kev

@@julias-shed I'm not sure you are correct about a snifter not being needed on slide valve engines. With the regulator closed the pistons are still trying to suck in air and grit via the blast pipe in the smoke box

The smaller hole might be blower pipe feed in to the blast ring.

Good idea John I will check where it is routed 😀

Is this a kit or are you making as you go along yourself looks fantastic
@julias-shed8 күн бұрын
Hi it's a bit of both. It's based on a kit with lots of parts missing so I end up making bits as I go along. 😄
