Thanks for all The extra information. I am in the middle of installing classic auto air in my 1962 Thunderbird. In addition to the install I have powder coated all the brackets and interior aluminum on the doors and underneath the dashboard. I am almost ready to install but it’s too hot to work outside. 112 degrees In Rocklin CA I have a coupon questions for you. I originally had 3/4 and 5/8 hoses but the classic auto air is 5/8 as you stated. Do you think it will make and difference by staying with 5/8 as far a the car overheating? I am also installed a fan shroud that did not exist, new water pump and correct fan blade with new fan clutch as wall as pressure tested and flushed the radiator. My other question is can you tell me how to flush the engine without going through the new classic air system and can I also bypass going through the freshly flushed radiator? Many thanks in advance! Great video.

Sounds like a great project! The 5/8” hoses are strictly for the heater, so they won’t have any effect on any overheating issue of the engine. Having a proper fan, clutch and the often forgotten shroud will affect your cooling system’s ability to keep the engine cool dramatically, so it’s awesome you’re already getting those items straightened out, don’t forget to use a new thermostat and a radiator cap with the proper pressure rating. To flush the engine, without anything going through the radiator or heater core, I would unhook all of the radiator and heater hoses then use a pressure washer to force water through all of the passages, it may be necessary to remove the thermostat and even the water pump (depends on the engine model) to use this method. There are others ways, but when I’m trying to bring back an old engine, this is the method I use. Good luck with your Thunderbird and try to stay cool!

@@AllisonCustoms Thanks for getting back to me great advice. I forgot to mention that the original owner also installed the thermostat backwards! I think since the heater core is new and the radiator was flushed. I will keep the water pump on and flush the engine. I’m going to have to get creative controlling the water coming out since the car is I’m my garage and I can’t move it out until it’s running with all the cooling system hooked up. Thanks again!

Nice video, I have almost the exact same setup as you have. 67 Fastback with factory integrated A/C and a 91 5.0 H.O. My air unit is toast so I have been researching all available units for my car. I have been eyeing the Classic Auto Air system and I am now sure that I am sold on it. One question for you: are you using the factory AC compressor or did you buy one with your kit? Will the factory compressor work? Thanks again for your time.
