I think she said later in the video that she actually did like some aspects. Design (like art) is subjective and so we don't judge people for their preferences. 🤩

Yes, i used to say art deco was my least fav style, it reminded me of sleezy 80s bachelor bedrooms (cold triangles/angles, black, gold, leopard print, satin...) but then i fell in love with moody maximalism that incorporated botanicals, and more eclectic styling with touches of art deco, and now i luv it! Still not a fan of a lot of it, but im in luv w select pieces and styling.

As a kid I always thought art deco buildings look like villain lairs 😅 I love the style a lot, old and new. The illustration/art of that age was gorgeous as well. It's such a great style for using bold jewel tone colours. I feel like a dark wall or two really helps, too. All/mostly white spaces just don't feel art deco. Thanks for the video, there's some great tips in here! ❤️

Another style that is quintessential art deco is chinoiserie art deco, which is the art deco style that developed in Shanghai of the 1920s with the French quarters influences. A vintage chinoiserie piece of furniture (eg sideboard) brings in such a statement feel

I like how you are doing other styles than I have seen other youtubers do before. Not just scandi, boho and mid century modern, but also art deco (which I love), french country and grand millenial. I know it is not on trend right now but would love to see a video about art nouveau.

I always had a fondness for the 1920s in there for certain parts of art deco or something that I really loved and I think more and less art nouveau like some of the wallpapers which were intricate and had a lot of wildlife and forestry on it plant matter that type of thing but there’s some things about it I don’t really care for the furniture is usually an overlay it’s cheaply made if you want something quality you’re going to pay big prices and I feel like it can get boring after a while really quick I like timeless looks so I think I kind of sit somewhere in the middle like eclectic I like a little bit of this and a little bit of that but there’s only certain parts of certain things that I love just like I talk about oh French country and shabby chic along with some Baroque elements that have been muted and kind of updated to fit the modern world I love those things because I feel like that’s what soft and supple home really feels like I feel like I am this is more party entertainment and like you said the reference to Hollywood which can get pretty boring I like the dark academia and steam punk also Which I think actually can complement one another so if someone’s looking to incorporate both styles those would go very well together I don’t know I love unique things and I’m a unique person so that probably makes sense I like overstuffed I like organic I love linens and cottons I love a lot of light but I also like moodiness because I tend to go there sometimes and I think that’s our light in our shadow side And I think that there should be a designated room for whatever it is that isn’t your greatest love but something you enjoy so you have an escape or if you have the money and you have like a little guesthouse or even a tiny home you could turn it into a whole Nother world based on The things that you really enjoy so you have separate spaces that give you different things pending on what your needs are and I do think aesthetics speaks to our our emotional and mental well-being so for those people who don’t think it’s important you must not have any libra in your chart and libra‘s real diving us and she loves beauty

There is that movie - the Evil in the Sun, based on an Agatha Christie detective story, with Peter Ustinov playing the leading role. And that movie is all about art deco. Just google a trailer video or whatever and you will see. I watched it the last weekend, I just couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. All actors were in art deco-styled outfits!

I love Art Deco but I find myself gravitating more towards the severity of the original. But also it is neat to see it coming back in a new way. And also it is more like Screaming 20's 🤣 definitely a development on the Roaring bit.

Dont forget the entire vibe of the 80s was was art deco inspired.....the "Post Modern" era,....its totally back! I sell vintage furniture....its the young kids that are tracking down the 80s post modern pieces because they werent alive when it was cool....much like my age group gravited to the mid century stuff because we weren't alive in the 50s & 60s. People seem to enjoy vibes of eras theyve only enjoyed thru photos.

Congratulations for the video, it is very well informed and I like how you explained all its features. My favorite style is Victorian, but it's a bit difficult to put it into practice with a modern update and without a visual agglomeration, especially when you live with 4 teenagers and a husband. I quit smoking to redo my bedroom in Dark Academia style (because I love old things, books and the mood it conveys, as the Victorian style too so i paint same dark color on walls and ceiling) and Art Deco (because my husband absolutely adores it and I adore the elements and colors but not necessarily the mood it conveys, it seems a bit cold and "futuristic" to me, especially if it has too many lines or angles so thanks to your video, I decided to chooose the shape the papyrus plant that resembles a scale as main pattern) and from Art Nouveau I love Lalique jewelry, illustrations and architectural elements but nothing else that can be modernized from the home decor category, but I love plants. The problem is that I put a lot of pressure on myself because I have to choose extremely carefully all the elements and decorations because unfortunately I can't stand visual congestion, but Minimalism is not for me either. It will be an exciting journey but I can't wait to see the final result. The dining room with open kitchen is a combination between farmhouse, Shabby Chic and Light Academia (which I hadn't even heard of in 2014) and in 9 years I still haven't had enough of it and every new guest is amazed at how well we combined everything being very welcoming and at the same time extremely original and still modern. Well, I know it's praise, but at least if I see my achievements written down, it's as if I see my wishes too, half fulfilled🥰

Great intro. topic with a plus + from your energetic speech. I'm still learning about Art Nouveau and Art Deco; also, I feel like drowning in "awes" over these past decorative pieces. 🕊️😃 The large pink dining room made me think that it would be an insult if a lady diner wears her LBD as evening attire.

I just bought a 1938 bungalo to launch as an AirBnB. I'm thinking about using Art Deco elements. At first I was thinking Art Nuveau, but now I think if I did it would be like buying a new home and furnishing it with 1999 furniture. Really interested in your opinion on this.

I really enjoy what a great job you do with these videos! And your personality is very engaging. Only suggestion I would offer is to give more on screen time to the photos so that we have plenty of time to soak in all the details of each photo or to show even more photos to illustrate your points. Came across your videos today, and I am really enjoying them, thank you!

To me Art Deco is the modern ancient world / Egypt, Babylon, Bronze Age India / large motif softened by modern technology (1920’s) Like Greek revival is Greco Roman early American style (1830’s) Everything repeats with a slight butterfly effect

Art Deco is the best of the modern styles. Now why a manufacturer would take an art deco inspired chair and upholster it in that ghastly mauve is not something I pretend to understand. Speaking of things I don't understand--the love of "neutrals" (I now cringe every time I encounter the word) and the love of colors rejected by previous decades and combining them into palettes that look instantaneously dated. I hope to live long enough to see people return to a love of beauty and style.
