A nightmare by appearance, sure, but Nodirbek chose to do this due to his prep involving Nxe4. Game would have been much calmer if he had gone with the ordinary well trodden lines instead. The whole point was he embraced the chaos here knowing he had a chance to win.

Also important to note that Gukesh faced Nodirbek in the olympiad and lost a winning/ drawn game. Even if he had drawn that game, India 2 would have won the Olympiad instead of Uzbek. So they have quite the rivalry!

I think Gukesh was winning for the most part then blundered a piece in the end 🤷 I was rooting for Nodirbek though, on the Olympiad and even now, we have similar playstyle but obviously he's much much a greater player than I am! 🤣
