The fanned frets allow for the guitar to be in two different scale lengths. This affects tonal qualities and overall playability. Often times when an extended range guitar, such as this, is a scale longer than standard the lower strings gain more tension and sound better, but the higher strings suffer from the tension and become much harder to play. The idea of fanned frets is pretty ingenious if you ask me.

This has to be the best video/song i've ever heard, and definitely the best playthrough i've ever seen, and that guitar...damn. I admire your work , someday, you'll rule the world with your music, and i can't wait for the day you do it.
@OmenAhead11 жыл бұрын
Sick! can someone tell more artists/bands kinda similar to this kind of djent?
@6project6nightmare611 жыл бұрын
They're called 'Fanned Frets', they keep the intonation intact on extended range guitars by giving the bass end a longer scale length where as the treble side has a shorter/standard scale. It basically means soloing isn't a bitch to do because the tension is normal at the top end and there is more tension in the low end so you don't have to worry about your picking putting it out of tune so much.

Nice stuff. Really atmospheric. It has a very nice touch to it.
@Samus516412 жыл бұрын
Better intonation and better tension across each string. Allows the lower strings to resonate faster and the longer strings to resonate slower, improving your sound. Not to mention it's more ergonomic; as your hand moves up the fretboard, your arm slants towards the body, and as you go back, your arm naturally wants to slant towards the headstock.

More examples of programs for drums are: NI Studio Drummer, Steven Slate Drums ( What I use ), Superior Drummer, EZdrummer, etc. EZdrummer is probably the cheapest out of all them I think ( I'm not sure ), plus you can buy expansion packs with each software.

The beginning is Very beautiful and meshes perfectly with the key change and transition into the chorus type of deal. Although I think it would be even more inspiring if you somehow changed keys and transitioned back into something similar to the intro at the end of this piece. I don't know, just a thought.

actually if you are using something like a dingwall that is fanned and has a 37" scale or so on the lowest string you can get about as low as an F (but definitely an F#) and have it still come out clean.

Fanned frets. It creates a multi-scale effect. The lower strings are longer than the higher ones. Also gives it an overall better intonation.

You need a tight up stroke with a pretty solid palm mute but, you scratch the strings over a harmonic fret and you can alternate the way you play it. check out Joe cocchi from within the ruins the guy does it in everything.
@MrTehGui11 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know the brand or make of the guitar? And what pickups he's using? No big brand names make 9 string pickups (on multiscale guitars like this, you usually need pickups that are long enough for the # of strings you have +1, since you have to slant the pickup)
