As a child I attended a Methodist Church. It was 100% on fire for God and His word. It is no longer the church that introduced me to my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. To all UMC pastors, God WILL NOT be mocked!
@kevinmacomber13365 ай бұрын
The UMC made the 'issue' the priority, not God's work. In our area, the only remaining UMC churches are the weak ones with all moving to GMC, with the exception of one that went Independent. The UMC organization, nor any non-profit organization, survive this type of financial impact. Downsizing almost always leads to bankruptcy and/or closure.
@getworking56526 ай бұрын
~In the four Gospels, Jesus refers to God as Father over 165 times… I was watching the conference when two progressive UMC pastors speaking on inclusion and how they were going to monitor (police) churches to make sure they are complying also stated that the UMC will begin “Avoiding exclusively male language for God…” I find it most ironic that the progressive woke have decided not to honor God’s own preferred pronouns of ‘Heavenly Father’. Over the past four years, the progressives schemed to take over the UMC and to place their ‘god’ of progressive wokeism before Father God Almighty. They have broken the first commandment.

@ChurchHistoryStories6 ай бұрын
CS Lewis posited the idea that, given enough time, evil-spirited people will naturally gravitate towards the power of the top of an organization. So it could happen to the GMC. But, the Global Methodist Church has a built-in balance system - there is no trust clause. If the denomination takes a radical swing, there is nothing to force it to stay together artificially like the UMC. In theory, it should mean that the leadership must listen to the churches, unlike the UMC now...

Born and raised a Methodist. Father was a pastor. Book of Discipline was created by man. Not God. It has been changed multiples times of the years. The book does not define my relationship with God. I removed my mom from the United Methodist Church that she and my dad had attended for over 50 years after she came home with a brochure advertising a group that was meeting to encourage and support transgender and gay members in their chosen lifestyle. I set up a meeting with the lead pastor, and confronted him with what the Bible had to say about such issues. He stated that his views had shifted over the years, and I realized that He no longer thought that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. I told him that Mom would no longer be attending and that he would be answerable to God for teaching heresy. The only bright side to this whole event is that my dad died in 2023 and did not live to see this terrible decline of the denomination that he belonged to most of his life.

For the most part contemporary "Christendom" is unaware of the "spirit-realm" conflict that has been taking place from eternity past. Truly when fault for this will be examined, it will be placed at the feet of the "Church." To stand for "TRUTH" in any hour the cost will be, "you stand alone." - Take heart true "Men of God." You "Watchmen on the wall" blow your trumpets, and for the true "Prophets" that remain whip your tears from your eyes. Remember there is a "Remnant of the "Lord" that needs us. Blessings.

Wesley himself, were he alive today, would put the United Methodist Church in the USA out of its misery. I'm glad to see that their partners in Africa agree. Not mentioned here is the fact that the same thing has happened among the Anglicans. They have told the mother church--the Church of England--that they are no longer in fellowship with it, and the Archbishop of Canterbury to be no longer acknowledged. The big picture is that all of the Protestant Mainline denominations that have gone woke over the past 40 years, are being kissed goodbye by their African and Asian partners in the Global South. It's a wonderful thing to see. Apostacy should be severed from the Church, and hung out to dry.

The UMC had already been in decline in the mid 90s when I was as active as I’ve ever been. It was coming down from the top, so to speak with the conferences taking decidedly marxist and possibly pagan positions on other issues, both constitutional and social. No effort made to even cite scripture to justify the stances. Furthermore, little efforts to support pastors who clashed with building committees when trying to uphold Christian doctrine, but full support for pastors getting caught doing things their mothers and grandmothers would have been embarrassed to hear them doing. The US UMC has sent a lot of money and mission efforts to Africa. Glad to see the African believers, who may have a longer historical Christian legacy that the US, decided the blessings came from God and have chosen to honor Him before anything else.
