Great Tutorial Keith! Want to check with you about the carpet padding. Any recommendations on the width and depth of the padding? Just wonder about the space needed on all 4 corners of the padding. Thanks
@KeithShannonDirectCarpet Жыл бұрын
We use 10 mill gold foil top pad / about 3/8 to half inch
@SeanTong0 Жыл бұрын
@@KeithShannonDirectCarpet Thank You. So do you leave 0.5 inch on each side of the carpet padding to the edge of the carpet?

Greetings from the UK. Great video Keith. Just a question on the underlay. I notice you only put it on the treads (and not around the nose). Do you leave a small space at the junction of the tread and riser? or do you add the underlay the entire depth of the tread?
@KeithShannonDirectCarpet Жыл бұрын
Well truth be told as you must know / it’s best to have the pad over the edge for wear purposes but the carpet that we are using does not respond very well with the pad over the nose and also does not rewind well to tack strip that’s why we have switched our methods
@Robert-cd7rm Жыл бұрын

Really helpful video, Keith, thank you! Can you explain the carpet pad, type and installation? And do you not use nailing strips?

For certain carpets I do not use nailing strips ( smoothedge, tack strip) the pad that we use is 10mil gold foil top pad

When you are stapling the riser, you say 45. Does that mean part of staple on riser and part on tread? Or 45 degrees into the carpet on the tread?
@KeithShannonDirectCarpet2 жыл бұрын
Good question/ yes exactly but when I staple I staple as close to the tread that I can so when I have to cut let’s say at the riser I don’t hit any staples with my knife
