Hello/Kamusta everyone! If you are new to our channel or have been following us, we both absolutely love FILIPINO FOOD and we had a craving for some delicious FILIPINO FOOD. In today's video, we are visiting a FILIPINO RESTAURANT that is serving up FILIPINO FOOD with a MODERN and CONTEMPORARY TWIST. It's a brand new restaurant that opened up earlier this year in the Ward Village in HONOLULU, HAWAII called PESO NEIGHBORBOOD RESTAURANT AND LUMPIA BAR. My all time faves are lumpia and pancit. I could live off of that❣️. Sari sari…yummm. All the food looks so dee-lish. Mahalo for taking us there 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Aloha urs!! You can never go wrong with lumpia and pancit!! Staples to Filipino cuisine for sure!! Peso is a great place to enjoy some unique twists to Filipino dishes many of us know and love!! The halo halo has the Hawaiian touch with guava and dragon fruit!!😋😋🤙🏽🙌🏽🌺

🌺 Aloha Michelle and Jose, Lumpia and pancit is my favorite as well. Adobo is another meal I have to have, whether it’s chicken or pork, it’s a must have! Pinabet and Kare-Kare both are awesome. I’m getting so hungry and I ate already! 😂😂😋😋🥰🤙🏽

Rebecca we cannot agree with you more that lumpia and pancit are go to's for sure!! It's not a Filipino meal without them!! Adobo , pinakbet, Kare-Kare, afritada, lechon, and so much more!! 😋😋😋 We're getting hungry now too!! 😂 Mahalo nui as always for your amazing support!! 😘😊

Aloha Michelle & Jose! Wow, we passed by Peso going to Ward last month and didn't know the presentation was that nice. The adobo chicken looked gorgeous. I love sisig with egg and lumpia. I was wondering where the rice was until you mentioned it LOL. That version of halo halo looks interesting. I've never had jackfruit before and hope to try it one day in turon! Thanks for showing this amazing restaurant guys! 🤙

Aloha Misty!! Definitely add it to your list for a taste of modern and contemporary Filipino flare!! Really unique flavors to staple dishes. The spin Chef Rhia put on the adobo chicken was definitely a nice twist. We loved that the halo halo incorporated local Hawaiian fruits as well as that oat milk!! Let us know if you try it or when we come back we should all go!! 😋☺️🙌🏽

Did you guys get to sample their pinakbet? IMO...because it has so many ingredients in pinakbet, it's complex but simple to make. If they miss on that dish, chances are the rest of the menu gonna follow suit....

Aloha Harry - we did not get a chance to sample their pinakbet. We wanted to try more of the basic traditional dishes to see how they modernized it. Will definitely be returning to visit them and try more dishes because the spin they put on the items we tried were really good!!😋

Hi guys 👋 For someone like me who has never had Filipino food , is lumpia like a Chinese , Spring Roll ? It looked like it covered in a thin pastry ? and the adobo , is it the way it’s cooked or the sauce that goes with it ? Cheers Rod 🤙

Hi Rod! You got it right!! Filipino lumpia also referred to as Shanghai are eggrolls that are fried. It’s wrapped in a very then wrapper made usually of wheat flour, water, eggs, and salt. It makes it easy to work with and then crispy when fried. Filipino adobo got its name during the Spanish colonial period because in Spanish adobo/adobar means - marinade, sauce, or seasoning. Common ingredients in Filipino adobo are soy sauce and vinegar and from there can vary based on chef/region. You and the Mrs should definitely try Filipino food!! It’s delicious!! 😋
