Great job! I hope you can do this for every other set from now on.

Thanks! I am delighted to know that the project seems useful to people -- especially to one who, like you, has been following the channel for such a long time!

I really enjoy these! You do a great job and your editing is a really nice touch, the only thing I would say, is when you are saying something is a good card, I would like if you said “I’m thinking about replacing this with this” So that we have some reference as to how “good” it is compared to something we already have experience with, there are tons of cards that are good in every new set, but even some cards that are great for cube won’t actually make your cube, where as if you say, I’m considering this over “gonti” then I know it’s relative power level. Just an idea. Thanks again for the cube content!
@jeromeofmarmite89143 жыл бұрын
You do do that with some of the cards, like murktide regent and ethereal forager, and I found that comparison very helpful.

Thanks, that's a great idea! I appreciate the suggestion.

Saving me time with this for sure. I'm so many sets behind, but at least this one looks straightforward on what to add or skip.

I like the free form style, it doesn't sound scripted. Excellent suggestions too! I had most of these on my list already but there were a few I didn't like Murktide Regent. I think I'm also going to give Serra's Emissary a try since it's a semi-fairer Iona.
@CulticCube3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Definitely not scripted! I just went freeform, more like the Chateau Cube podcast, except that I do not, of course, have a guest.

Thank you, this was an excellent review of your experiences with the new cards and what you expect. Loved it! Got me really amped up to cube again (when it's possible due COVID).

Thanks so much, Arjan! I see from Twitter that you did get to cube yesterday. That's wonderful! I trust you had a blast.

@@CulticCube Thank you. Absolutely! I'll be honest being not able to cube for 15 months made it difficult for me to continue to be into the hobby , but the love came back within 1 live draft. :D

Good video! I would have loved if you showed cards when talking about them. I know most of them, but not all, so it would really help with some of them. But maybe the video is for more seasoned cubers. Thanks for your analysis.
@CulticCube3 жыл бұрын
That's a fine idea. I feel kind of bad that I wasn't showing everything I discussed. :( honestly the main reason I didn't was because I was trying to reduce the workload and push the video out faster. I apologize for losing you with some of the references.
@Kechlivecek3 жыл бұрын
@@CulticCube I though that might be the case, the video is already 40 minutes long and it's only part one. 😀 Doing more animations would probably take lots of time unless you had macros/templates prepared for that.

I do! It's called Chateau Cube, and it's available in the usual places: Spotify, Google Play, Apple iTunes, etc.

Have you or anyone you know ever built a Cube from just 1 set?
@moralessanchezoscarelias64123 жыл бұрын
Yes, set cubes are a thing! I've seen some cubes that later evolved into a "plane themed" cube. It was an original Innistrad cube that was updated with Shadows over Innistrad, when that set came out. It's a cool creative restriction to have!
@jaysherman91383 жыл бұрын
You can explore all kind of cubes with the cube map! Here, for example, I marked an Innistrad cube in what could be called Horror Island: luckypaper.co/resources/cube-map/?cube=5d9390780e23356b18d953b6

I've never made a cube from exactly one set or one block, but I know people who have. On the other hand, I have made cubes set on single planes, such as Ravnica and Innistrad, that draw on the broad card pool from each of our visits to those planes. Some, like Ravnica, we've been to often enough that one can create really remarkably different environments using the same pool.
@Treglar_Shadowleaf_XJ93 жыл бұрын
@@CulticCube While I do believe an AWESOME Cube can be made from ALL the Ravnica blocks I think it and Innistrad block cubes have been done by 'Everyone'. I have put together a ?Cube for the set Dominaria, which I love the set, using 4 of each cmn. , 3 of each uncmn. , 2 of each rare and 1 of each mythic. Thank you for your response. : )

What do you mean by the terms macro-archetype and micro-archetype? Do you cover that in one of your other videos?
@CulticCube3 жыл бұрын
In brief, macroarchetype refers to the pillars of Magic deck strategies: aggro, midrange, control, combo. Microarchetype refers to narrow, focused deck strategies, such as storm, persist combo, prison, aristocrats, etc. I don't have a video on exactly this topic, and perhaps I should! I allude to it in place, such as the introduction to the Cultic Cube, which I put out shortly before WotC ran the cube on MTGO.

What is "pip"?

A pip is just a mana symbol. For example, Grizzly Bears has one green pip in its cost.

This felt so odd to watch. I really enjoyed the video, it was just strange hearing you talk about card in such a convocational manner, when your videos are normally so polished and scripted. Again not better or worse just different.
@CulticCube3 жыл бұрын
Ha! Yeah, I didn't write an essay, as I am wont to do. I also shaved time on the graphical development for the video. I wanted to push the video out faster than I might otherwise have done, as a set review feels "time sensitive."
