I love how the color makes this quilt pop. I wish you would have paper patterns though. I would even pay a couple of dollars more. When I download a pattern I can't print in color, and sometimes the file becomes lost. Great video. I could give one little hint though that I learned at a class recently from Jacqueline de Jonge. If your machine turns the bottom seam back when you're sewing pieces together try using a piece of scotch tape on your machine base where it touches the throat plate. It works like a miracle to keep the seam in place. Keep giving us more videos. I learn so very much.

That is a great tip! And I am planning to print a collection of these patterns at some point. But right now we are sticking to just digital for the Stashin’ with Stephanie patterns. All of my other patterns are available in paper and pdf formats.

Lovely tutorial, lovely quilt. I have a question. Do you have a tutorial for the shirt you’re wearing in this video? Please correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like a long sleeved T shirt with Kaffe fabric embellishment? I’d love to do something similar Thank you.

I am new to your quilting channel. I love all the colors you chose to make this quilt. I have made three trips around the world quilts. One King size, one Twin size, and one all size quilt. I love making these quilts. I have my own quilting channel here on KZbin called " Kathy's Kwiltz. " I enjoyed watching this video very much. I will definitely be watching more of them.

Hi Stephanie, I just purchased the pattern. Without giving anything away I read/reviewed the pattern directions and found that the squares should be same size. However, at the 22:01 mark it appears that the squares are different sizes. Would you please offer some clarity. Thank you.
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous5 жыл бұрын
The squares are all the same size. What you are seeing is what it looks like when three of the four seam allowances are sewn. It makes it look like a rectangle because the final side still needs to be attached. Hope that makes sense.
@patriciamcgarr3183 Жыл бұрын
Jordan fabrics channel does a trip around world where she cuts the squares and puts the piles in a circle and sees her strips that way. Her name is Donna. Some might find it easier

I wish I could follow your pattern, I’d buy it in a minute. It just seems too complicated for me. I’ve only made 3 quilts…I think I would have anxiety trying to lay out the fabric properly. I do have a design wall, I guess I will have to do it the old fashioned way, even though I LOVE your pattern! Also, the Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I wanted to use jelly rolls instead of fat quarters. I think your strips might be 3.5 .

Just a quick heads up: Some longarmers will not quilt tops with pressed open seams. There is not as much strength in a pressed open seam (prior to quilting) and long arms do pull at your quilt top a bit. Ask your longarm quilter first.
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous6 жыл бұрын
I am a longarmer and I love seams that are pressed open.
@lisabird13636 жыл бұрын
I am a longarmer also and most of the time pressed open seams work fine for me. But, I have been told that there are longarmers out there who won't quilt a top that way. Just seems prudent to make sure it's ok with whatever longarmer one wants to work with.

Did you sew the strips in alternating directions to avoid “bowing”? Maybe it’s not necessary for this application
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous5 жыл бұрын
You don’t need to do that if you press your seams open.
@BeeBalm0015 жыл бұрын
Make your own ironing board so you can draw a straight line with a sharpie. As you iron the seams open make sure the fabric lines up with the line; therefore your strips remain straight. If this doesn't help, then yes, alternate directions.

I like the top that you are wearing. Did you make it yourself? If so, where can I get the pattern. You do a very good job at explaining what you are doing when making your quilts. Thank you.

Beautiful tunic. It fits you so well and you look fabulous in it. May I ask what pattern you used to make the top? Also, I’m confused...I thought Free Spirit was going to quit selling quilt fabric. What is your take on that subject?
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous6 жыл бұрын
FreeSpirit was purchased by another company and will still be producing fabric. And I used a pattern from The Tunic Bible. We have it at shop.quiltaddictsanonymous.com.

May I ask You what do you mean when You say scant seam allowance ? does that mean you give a little more room in the allowance?
@kathyhart51056 жыл бұрын
A scant quarter inch seam is a little bit smaller then a quarter inch seam.
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous6 жыл бұрын
You just move your needle one position to the right and you’ll see a scant seam.
@loraineleuschke41866 жыл бұрын

I don’t know why but this seemed more difficult than it usually is.
@BeeBalm0015 жыл бұрын
Instead of sewing the two big pieces together, cuz its just too much fabric to handle, i cut those pieces the width I need and then sew the strips together. Much easier on my wrists and goes fast.
@jylromain64395 жыл бұрын
Too much wasted time and thread with tearing out seams. I'd rather chain piece the way I was taught. This seems much more complicated.
@bella-bee5 жыл бұрын
A little bird told me something about strip sewing, to alternate the direction of sewing or after a while the assembled strips start to bow in one direction. So I guess you’d flip it over and stitch back from the other side. It was a jelly roll speed quilt of stripes in that case, so longer seams but similar. Just a thought.
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous5 жыл бұрын
That doesn’t happen when you press your seams open.
