Why didnt the tray include the sky lights. It's an awkward ceiling.
Good idea to use those children’s floor pads to protect the new flooring 👍🏻

Curious question. Is there access to the area below the addition? If not, why not just pour the foundation at ground level?
@rachelcronin9164 жыл бұрын
Depending where they live that basement alone was $30-50,000. No clue square footage but based off a guess of 2000 sq ft just for room addition and realizing what my parents spent on a top of the line but very small one under 400sq ft was about $50,000. So, that room all done, complete but without furniture was probably upwards of $150,000+, not to mention the additional outside area. I'm guessing a pricey $250,000.00. Especially if in expensive, exclusive area. Plus they had a lot of workers, as well. So much to factor in for a job well done!
@sheverettwashington11793 жыл бұрын
No way ThAts 2k sq.ft. You got 2k houses and that big couch took up a good bit of space in there. I’d say more like 700sq.ft

So first off benefit is so they have access to plumbing and heating from the bottom crawlspace. Otherwise if something happens it's hard to fix the issue. Also heats from the bottom so your floors will be warm to walk on. My whole house is built that way.

My fiance and I are about to drop $300K into my 1950's, 875 sqft small home. I'm in the Washington, DC area and I'm sitting on an an excellent location. We'd have to move 50 miles away to afford something new. We can't afford to buy a new home here, so I'll be remodeling my parents home. Expanding the footprint, adding a second level, gutting the first level to include an open floor plan, kitchen, laundry, 4 bedroom and 3.5 bathroom, adding a master bed and bath and a first floor master suite for my aging parent. Homes in my immediate area are running $429K for less than 2,000 sqft, if you want a 4 bed, 2 bath, prices are in the $600K range easily. We commute 30 minutes each way in traffic. I don't want to drive 4 hours round trip each day to afford a cheaper home in the $400K range. My current mortgage is $1300 in the small house, it will more than likely go up to $2700 a month with the remodel. Average apartment rentals in the area run $1700 - $3000 easily. Average mortgages in the area are $3000 - $6000K a month. Do you think I'm making a right decision to remodel my parents older home or is there a better solution for the area I live in? I welcome any thoughts.

High quality great build, terrible architectural design. The original house is ugly terrible barn look. The pitch of the addition and the style doesn't match the house at all. The owners should have moved and built a new house. This edition cost well over $100,000 why not put that into a new house.
