I don't know which is most amazing, the parts that are created or the machines that create the parts. Or maybe the minds that create the machines that create the parts. I'm impressed with all of them.

CNC programming technology is already very advanced, but because modern society is improving so quickly in terms of technology, so are the technological developments. But these developments are closely related to the country, the country's decisions will affect the industrial progress and technological development of the entire country, and this influence will gradually spread over time, and will eventually form a huge wave.

I did my apprenticeship at a place called Power Plant gears ltd in West drayton UK. They manufactured massive gears and gear drives just like this. It shut in the mid eighties so there was no CNC machining. After the gears were cut they would be hand scraped and lapped to perfectly bed the gears together. Our main gear cutting machines were Schiess from Germany. Power Plant claimed to be the pioneer in helical gear cutting. They had been going since 1903 and at one time actually built gear cutting machines.
@1pcfred2 жыл бұрын
If a company didn't make the transition to CNC then they folded up. You can't compete with CNC. I mean just look at it. These are basic machining centers here too. Nothing too fancy. No 5 axis or what have you.

The subtext in the section starting at 3:45 and going to 7:09 about CNC programming is pretty much spot on. You have to be a good manual machinist before you can become a good CNC machinist/programmer. As a member of the last generation of machinists trained on manual equipment before I even got close to a CNC machine, if you don't know how to machine a part manually, you're going to be clueless about how to properly program a CNC machine. The computer will not save you.
@heronguarezi65014 жыл бұрын
My man. I got a small CNC router. Then a big heller, índex lathe, and a EDM. The only experience I have on manual machines is watching abom79. And It is defiantly possible to jump right to CNC machining. The power and speed of a modern machine is so high just fell on a manual machine cannot prepare.
@danarrington22244 жыл бұрын
There was a time when I would have agreed with you. Just watching that grooving tool at 5:07 proves that a manually created program will have wasted motion. Look at how long that tool cuts air before it reaches the material. The turning module in GibbsCam would never create a toolpath with that much air time. We continuously track the material state so that the tool is positioned within a few thousandths of the stock to eliminate unwanted motion. CNC programming with today's technology could never be duplicated by hand. It's just not possible.

I'm not a machinest but I do enjoy watching videos on cnc machining it's amazing how accurate it does it work with all the steel moving as fast as it does and stopping exactly where it's told to stop. But I do have a question @ 6:40 how does the tool know where to line up when cutting the groove for the threads with each pass without it starting a new set of grooves I find interesting how fast the material is spinning yet the tool finds the same groove all the time.
@bomb_and_gouge3 жыл бұрын
In a CNC-mill like this one, it is programmed and based on position, that means that the part and cutting tools knows exactly where it is at at all times. When programing it, you can see the part getting cut in a simulation, what cutting tools to use, speed, and so on.
@dominic66343 жыл бұрын
@@bomb_and_gouge as a former machinist i endorse this explanation.
@kempokem78312 жыл бұрын
Perfectly correct and it should also be not that, the machine can create a different thread groves in situation which we dismountle the piece and mount again (due to change of reference point).
@1pcfred2 жыл бұрын
The machine has sensors in the spindle so it knows precisely what degree and velocity the spindle is at all the time. There are PID loops going on. The machine controller (the electronic control unit that runs the CNC machine) controls the spindle and the lead screw of the machine. So it can coordinate all of the movement. The spindle is the A axis. The lead screw and carriage are X and Y Computers are idiot savants at math too. They're just supernaturally good at it. Counting and calculating is what they do. What's really going on when you get into the nitty and gritty of it all is nothing short of amazing. The machine is taking all kinds of parameters into consideration while it's executing operations. What it can do, what it's been asked to do, etc. It's pretty crazy.
