Stacked Slate Urn with a 3 watt, everybody has time for that!!! Love the top tips, like you say the ripple is more formal so in a different location I would say the ripple, but now I want to see the scalloped urn with fire 🔥

You drive a hard bargain buddy. I’ll see if I can get my hands on one. You like the music? The first song is my oldest son and me on the drum. I took a timeout during the build to play a bit of music, we missed out on that while you were here!

Absolutely, that’s my oldest son Ian. He was jamming on the guitar earlier while I was playing on the drum, (that would be the first song you hear in the video). I guess he just played so hard it knocked him out. Could also be the three kids of his running around out there?

John, I really like the 3 watt fixture idea and amount of "dancing" light it emits. (One that changes colors would be cool too!) Where did you run your wire out of the urn? In the video it looks like through the water supply hole/ pvc pipe at the base? Thanks.
@KoiAddiction4 жыл бұрын
Yes I did it up from the bottom. I run a wire from the transformer up into the inside of the urn above the gravel. Then after I’ve got it full of gravel I make the light connection with silicone wire nuts inside where they are easy to get to. This makes swapping lights out a snap :-) and I did another video with a different turn using color changing lights check it out👍🏻

Modern Design Aquascaping Inc. what are your thoughts and experience using Aquascape led color changing fountain light kit?
@KoiAddiction4 жыл бұрын
Never used a color changing “light kit”. I used custom design with controls for multiple things on the phone app. It was confusing but I got it done. My fountains are gone now I am building my new pond and I am using all color changers in the swim pond👏👏👏SO EXCITED

Love the video, I preferred the stacked slate with the 1 watt light (just like your wife). Where can I buy this fire effect 1 watt light?
@KoiAddiction3 жыл бұрын
Wow I am finding messages from 2 years back 😂 I never answered SORRY! Have an amazing day! Oh did you ever find the light?
@shannonholmberg88354 жыл бұрын
I like the stacked urn with the 3 watt. However I thinks the ripple urn would be great with the 1 watt and a little quieter pump action that would allow more of ripple effect. And less splashing off the shoulders of the urn. More of the formal statement. Bigger isn’t Always better. JMO

hey Jon I like those rocks with the water coming out where did you purchase those i am intrigued by them let me know thanks Derek and also i like the stacked slate urns better than the rippled one
@KoiAddiction5 жыл бұрын
It’s weathered limestone. We hand picked those and core drilled them in-house! 2 1/2” core bit with 1 1/2” side core for hidden lights in the holes👍

I want to do a three slate urn fountin. Can I put it on a 4x4 fountain tub?
@KoiAddiction2 жыл бұрын
No way! I would do calculation. Splash = height x 1.5. - SO from the edge of the fountain (urn) use that math and determine actual diameter of catch basin. If you go extra heavy flow, increase that number. Use liner with small aquablox and a pondless vault to pull from. The more blox the better but you can use a “sloping liner” down to the blox to cut costs. I usually use max holding capacity on a feature like this though. You pay in aggravation what you save on the front end!
@LANCER81512 жыл бұрын
Thank you for you reply. I was going with one big one, one medium and one small. Still the same?

Yes, I like the subtle lighting and the slate is the sweetest!
@irairod51602 жыл бұрын
I prefer the look of stacked slate urn. As far as the light goes, I would skip it, or perhaps use the most subtle amount of it in order to minimize my contribution to light pollution that negatively impacts insects, birds, small mammals---and humans!
@KoiAddiction2 жыл бұрын
You can use color changing and dim it way down to get a more subtle effect?!
@irairod51602 жыл бұрын
@@KoiAddiction Thank you for the reply! Yes, I know there are dimming options, but zero artificial light is better for wildlife, and color changing...well, that's a big environmental no-no. I do have a very subtle spotlight to illuminate a garden sculpture, but it's pointed down (please, do not point light up a tree, yikes!) and I turn it on only when I'm sitting outside at night. While adding water to a landscape is of great benefit to wildlife, artificial light works to its detriment, so restraint is very important. I appreciate you took the the time to suggest alternatives to minimize the negative environmental impact our landscaping choices have.
