Just an important reminder you can love Sharpay without trying to make her the 'real victim'. She isn't even a villain, she's just an antagonist, there's a difference.
@Jasminesim185 ай бұрын
exactly. i can't stand when people say she was the "real victim" in the movies. it comes off as try-hard and cringe. she was incredibly manipulative so she was a victim of NOTHING. if anything, she was a victim to her own ridiculous schemes.
@angeldelmoroable5 ай бұрын
To be fair to her, she actually was the victim for being the only one who cared about the arts and worked hard for it but was sidelined to give precedence to the people who didn't, but for the rest, no, she wasn't a victim.
@Angel-ts8rc5 ай бұрын
Well I think it could be interesting why people felt as children that she was being portrayed as a villain? And later felt an unresolved, icky feeling about the character’s treatment? It’s all valid in that perspective. And at the end of the day protagonists are usually heroic to some extent and antagonists are villainous to some extent. So those themes are there even if they are presented in a exaggerated or humorous way for children.
@gleewhoseline1985 ай бұрын

So the reason Drew Seely did Efron's singing in the first film but not subsequent films -- All of the songs for the 1st film had already been written before casting. The part of Troy was written for a tenor. Efron is a Baritone. Seely is a tenor. The final choice came down to those two. They liked Efron's looks and acting the best, but he couldn't hit the high notes already written for the part. So they had Seely sing for him. -- Subsequent film's music for Troy was written for baritone range, so after that Efron was able to sing for himself.
@morsh11305 ай бұрын
Zac Efron also underwent some dental work before they did the movie so that probably also affected his ability to sing. If you look at the show Summerland, you can see how different his teeth used to look.

I was a tween back when the first movie came out and she simply blew my mind with her over the top clothes. She was everything I aspired as a kid. Pink cars, pink bedrooms, pink houses... Wow. I tried my very best to emulate all of her looks to the boot. And given I was kinda of a rich kid... I had some amount of success. Guess you can imagine how great was the shock on my parents when I went from Sharpay Evans to Jack Sparrow then Wednesday Adams (on her Cristina Ricci era) and then fell off to Sweeney Todd meets Ichabod Crane. My style went crazy once puberty hit and so did I. But honestly, it was extremaly amusing, because my room was STILL SHARPAY-PINK ALL THE WHILE I WAS DRESSING LIKE A LOW BUDGET GOTH PIRATE.

BIG important thing about the teal outfit at 41:39 you didn't mention - she's trying to play Gabriella's part. That's why she has this innocent, slightly boho teal dress and curlier hair. Even her voice sounds more like Gabriella. And for once, she's actually mostly playing the character straight (if with some sass) instead of trying to turn the song into a totally different genre to suit her own personality. Because she's not trying to just be herself, she's trying to act like Gabriella. That's also true in the scene where she's trying to cheer up the gang after she steals Gabriella's part - even in her black top, the giant gold heart necklace is also suggestive of trying to "do what Gabriella would do." All of which is befitting of her insecurity that Gabriella is actually the better performer for the role. The resolution of this, of course, is in Sharpay actually claiming her own role instead of trying to be someone else, in the scene where she's back in the flashy blue outfit and upstaging her understudy.

never thought of the black colors being when she’s feeling villainous… you never fail to deliver outfit analysis🩷

sharpay was one of the most complex and interesting characters in the disney universe really. ashley tisdale portrayed her so well!! sharpay was such a sharp contrast from her character on the suite life of zack and cody
