I never thought about it that way before. Voice actors act out how a person talks, their *acting* in every sense of personality and mannerisms. Awkwafina acts like herself-Essentially turning the characters she voices into her. Explains why every character she voices feels like the same character. That's actually a good way to think about it.

It's kinda sad how a lot of these franchises (outside of very few) are now more or less lingering in obscurity and rarely heard from/seen again since the 1980s.

The Potato Heads also had a short lived Muppet-type show that aired on Fox Kids in 1998, a year after the Mister was starring in an ad campaign for Burger King where he appeared in a style similar to the Aardman sheep (for Serta)

does anybody else look at how nitpicky ppl are about this stuff and get genuinely amazed. it's the shape of a bob😂 it is a children's fantasy movie. when the disney movie dropped im sure there was outrage about how different it was from grimms fairytale. much less the shape of the bob ... im pretty sure it's just meant to look whimsical. the movie is not even released yet😭

Man I really wanted calico critters. They were the peak aesthetic to me. Way too pricey for my parents, though. My local Coney Island was attached to a boutique toy store and they always had a set of calico critters out and I was obsessed

Interestingly, original MLP is surprisingly dark(at least to Lewis' levels, if not Tolkien's). Our perception of the franchise is skewed by Gen 3, which was idyllic and sappy.

I personally don't think that Star being similar to Genie would have been a problem, considering all the other refrences in the movie already (Peter Pan got blantely copied in, and mentioned twice), and especially since Asha ends up becoming their 6th! fairy godmother character (in the span of 54 years), without that clashing with the ones from Pinnochio, Cindarella, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty (which had 3! in the same movie). And if you want to broaden it to "female characters that are magical", Asha would be their 12th due to Madam Mime from The Sword in the Stone, the queen from Snow White, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty (which would make that number go up to 4! in the same movie), Mary Poppings and Ursula from The Little Mermaid. While in the male department, if you don't count Star, we only have Genie (if you only look at the "closely resembling" part), and at most, Genie, Merlin and that Fantasia wizard (if you want to broaden it to 'magically gifted male characters'). And yet their number going from 1 to 2 after 31 years was 2 too many.

I dont mind Chris Pratt voice acting. I love the Lego Movie :D

I dont understand Emily's costume. Yes, it aligns with her personality, but it is so out of place in the context. Maybe im overlooking smth. Like, if Miranda is her idol, shouldn't there some of her influence in Emily's style? It isn't like she's part of a clique (at least what we can see) where everybody is fond of this fashion style, her coworkers dress in "Miranda's" style. Yes, it admirable to have your own style and such, but that usually comes with age and doesn't make emily any less offputing in the context of the movie.
