My heart and prayers go out to you, whatever life throws at us we fight for our families and loved ones, but occasionally we do crack under the pressure and I know the love of your family will help you heal. Happy Birthday Week! Love the coat!!! Early on in our marriage we lived in Fairbanks. I was pregnant with our first and my coat didn’t fit. So my husband bought me the most beautiful parka for my birthday. Your new coat reminded me of that. He bought it at a small local shop. I loved that coat for many years.

Hi Jessica and sweet family! I’m so happy to see your having a good day today, just one day at a time. I live on a ridge and I get more snow than town, so I know what your saying on the snow totals, but I definitely don’t get what you get in snow. I buy a pork loin and slice it up for pork chops and the rest I use for a pork roast. Pecans are my favorite nut and these are so yummy. Cashews and pistachios are my next in line favorites. Aaron and the family did great getting that beautiful winter coat for you. Happy Birthday Jessica, even though it’s a tad early. My birthday is on the 29th of this month...we are Christmas babies, lol. Never had green chili, but looks delicious. Aaron is a hoot, great sense of humor. I am glad Kodi is doing better. Fun video. I’ve never heard of Green Chili. My mother made peanut brittle a lot- she would pull it apart with two forks so the brittle was thinner and really tender. Glad to see the candied nuts - I have been planning to make some with walnuts and mixed nuts before Christmas. Thanks for sharing. Praying for you.

I make my green chili with beef. I take a flank steak and cube it , I chop all my ingredients by hand. I use a combination of green chilis, Serrano and jalapeños. Of course lots of onion, garlic and garlic powder, salt and pepper. We also make burritos out of it but only stuff it with green chili and then smother the tortilla with more green chili. I got the recipe from my mother in law who got it from the Hispanic ladies in her neighborhood.

See exactly it’s seriously made soooo many different ways, Aarons mom got it from a Hispanic too. But the crazy part is so many do t understand even Mexico makes it different ways depending on where they are from. Aarons aunt from Mexico hers is red with tomatoes but it’s full of chilies, not red American chili

I was the one that asked about the coat. So glad that you were given it as a present. It looks so comfy and nice on you. You deserve it!!! Hope you will wear it out in good health (old dutch saying). So and now I must buy me some pecannoten. In Holland we have the accent on the a, and this "a" sounds like the a in a-fter. So try that one out 🙂

@@modernhomesteadalaska Yes, our house is in the middle of the Bulb fields, 10 minutes from the sea. The bulbfields start behind the dunes, but ofcourse only flowers in the spring and eraly summer. HB is from Austria so he knows snow. In Holland during winter we are more about rain and wind, allthough we had some minus 6 celsius (so 21 Fahrenheit) this week. Not enough to get us skating on the canals. Have a nice Weekend and happy birthday. Hope Wyatt winns!!!

I always used raw Spanish peanuts but you can use lightly salted peanuts.

My grandma used to make peanut brittle and would nead into at end half cup of peanut butter with silicone gloves into hot brittle it’s torture to make but is so soft and melts in mouth . yummy .

Hi Jessica, yes i've made peanut brittle before from scratch, we make it by melting sugar until golden adding the peanuts and salt... Have you ever made treacle toffee? At Christmas my Dad and i would make it... yummmm

I also make peanut brittle from scratch because we don't own a microwave, picked up a tin can of peanuts from Costco to make it earlier today funny you posting it today. I'm Norwegian and i have barely tasted pecan twice. They are very expensive and they were "new" in the grocery store about 10 years ago. Walnuts are more common. We eat nuts at Christmas but we don't do anything with them, we just eat them plain.
