Welcome to Modern Homestead Alaska. We are located in South Central Alaska near the town of Wasilla. Living in Alaska and building our dream of “modern Homesteading” through the wilds of winter and the long summer days. We started building our Modern Homestead in 2021. We have since completed the upper levels of our home. Built a 16x16 foot chicken coop that dreams are made of. Our chicken ladies live in luxury as they view the beautiful lake from large windows inside the beautiful coop. We raise our own poultry, hunt for our food. We are avid fisherman And woman. We also built an amazing and beautiful wood shed. We have great big garden planes for the future. Join us as we dream big dreams and live everyday working hard to accomplish them.

I really don't miss the snow at all and if we get into the 40s I am not happy. Spent over 60 years dealing with the snow and cold and now at 70 it's nice to just see pictures of it.

It's so beautiful!! We get alot of snow n cold Temps here in Minnesota but we don't start as early in fall or last as long as you all. I don't know if could do it now but maybe when we were younger! Bless u all..

So I was just talking to Wyatt one of the circles was him making a hole to see if the ice is thick enough for big stuff like the Argo. But the others are from we think when it’s thin it burps almost and the weight of the ice pushes down on the water and the water comes up and eventually it all freezes. I think that’s my best guess

Like you, I have a husband that can and does do most anything and everything. I am the one that cooks, cans gardens, etc. I simply do not have the upper strength that he has to pound posts, etc. When he teases me about it, I tell him to go and cook a Thanksgiving dinner from scratch for 25 people or can up a bunch of chicken, etc. He straightens up pretty quick. LOL

We got whalloped. Our street hasn't been plowed and even the flat bed tow truck got stuck. One of my daughters got stuck and had to be pulled out with the dually. Crazy times with the 🌨️ should build a ☃️🍙

Yes I just saw that it was only .6 of an inch away from the snowiest November in anchorage. Aaron and Caleb drive there every day and say it’s so bad they don’t plow worth a crap in town. We do need to build a snowman for sure

Multiple reasons, the ones we cut are dead and can fall so it’s basic clean up, every tree we cut or clean there is 20 more ready to sprout up. We have so many small trees they need space to grow so we don’t need to plant new trees.

When I was married to a logger, I had bugged him for a month to trim some branches along our long driveway and he always had an excuse, so one day I grabbed his big old chainsaw and as nervous as I was, I trimmed trees like a mad woman, I was on a power trip and may have gotten carried away but our driveway looked beautiful and I entertained my elderly gentleman neighbour I’m guessing because he never left his deck until I went in the house hahaha….oh, by the way, my husband was so mad that I touched his precious chainsaw instead of being proud of the great job I did, I should have taken it in the divorce settlement, the big jerk! Lol
