you are a lifesaver. The kids like to slam the shifter and it eventually got worn out and only worked in D1 (no reverse or D2). Your video explaining the wires and what they did was super valuable! i was able to just wire it to D2 all the time so they can just go, no matter what position its in. Thanks!!!

I’m pretty sure this car has 775 motors. If so all you have to do is retain the 12 v system on the factory battery and where the power goes to the motors out the controller and a 12v coiled relay and add a 18-24 volt battery feeding in the relay and to the motors. Done. It will retain all lights radio steering control and safety switch.

I purchased one of these for my kid last year and I've had nothing but problems with it from day one. Think I've worked on it more than my kid has drove it over the year. I've had two solder every wire because all the plugs melted. It's now going on his third set of Motor/gearbox assemblies. The cheap Amazon ones work much longer than the junk that came with it but there still garbage. Half the videos I find on this thing have the comments disabled too. Having just ordered another pair of gearbox's I wish I would have watched this a long time ago! Awesome plan and great job but where is part 2 when you upgrade those gearbox assemblies? ✌😁👍

The gear box replacements you got. Do they accommodate the discs for the wheel lighting? I have two new assemblies but the plastic hole that the axel goes through has a smaller outside diameter than the stock boxes so the disc prongs dont fit in the new boxes.

@@jgatto1234 no they did not hook up to the wheel lighting ring things. We lost the rim lights on the first set of motors. Only the front worked after that. I ended up throwing the darn thing in the trash and I found a Smokin deal in the local classifieds on one of those 24-volt gravediggers with the metal frame for 200 bucks new in box. Found a guy that had bought a truckload of them. We haven't had one single problem with it yet. The little Moderno one would have been great because it was super cute had the nice seat and it was very easy to steer, they just put garbage Electronics in it. It might be worth just replacing everything for the speed control set up but that's quite expensive. We also have bought a used cheap Power Wheels buggy. It's all worn out been through hell, bottoms all scratched up in the previous owner painted it blue for his little boy because it was pink before. It's completely trashed sets outside in the weather all year every year and still works fine. I wrote a giant complaint on one of the Moderno KZbin videos but they deleted it and said I couldn't comment on it again because I mentioned the word "Power Wheels". Hope you have better luck than I did!

@@zakattack450 I won’t buy another one of their products. Granted this is the only issue I’ve had (I swapped to 18v Ryobi batteries) but their use of hard to get proprietary parts makes it difficult to repair even a gear in the gearbox. I only need the center gear (3rd) but the dimensions are different from all the other boxes I have and I can’t find any gears online with the same dimensions. Nice Jeep, poor execution. I’m trying to get some direction from them now as to how I can repair this. I can put new boxes on but it kills the wheel lights which happens to be one of the reasons we bought the jeep. Sigh.

It seems like back when I was researching them there was somebody that made custom gearboxes with metal gears but it's been awhile and I have no idea where I saw it. Would almost be worth replacing all the electronics adapting larger gearboxes and whatnot because the Jeep itself is super cool and had really easy steering for the little ones. My boy liked driving the jeep more than his big Grave Digger monster truck back when they were both in the yard. (the steering in the gravedigger is pretty bad.) There's a lot of information online about beefing them up but you can spend more than it was brand new to make it rip. Well I hope the best of luck to you & I would offer you all the parts that I saved but I already gave them away.

Ok, good to see. I am going for the 20-volt Black and Decker tool battery upgrade with the addition of a variable voltage regulator to tame it down when I want. Hopefully, 20 volts doesn't burn out the lights and the board with the remote control functionality. We will see.

Awesome upgrade. I tried upgrading to 18v but didn't realize the issues I would face. Would you happen to know why pressing the power button would flash lights and turn off? Please help 🙏 - 12v battery still good - Power button working

Great video. I thought about buying that kit myself, it looks like a lot of work. My family has 2 of them, one for my daughter, and older version of the jeep, and one for my son. My son has the newer jeep. Both swtiched over to milwaukee 18v batteries. My daughter's jeep works but the steering motor stopped. She learned how to steer herself so no harm done. My sons jeep didnt take well to the M18 battery. The remote would not move the jeep. The radio wont turn on and the pedal does not work. The jeep turns on but thats it. I used a 2.0ah M18 and the jeep turns on, radio works, and it moves but the voice on the speaker keeps saying "please charge battery ". I swtiched the 12v control receiver to a 24v and the jeep moves but the radio doesnt stop telling me to charge the battery even tho its a fresh charged 5.0ah milwaukee. Any advice?

Did you ever figure it out? Currently having the same issue using the m18 5.0. But works fine with a 12v

I don't know, I removed all of those components from the original moderno kids jeep and replaced it with aftermarket stuff.

I have a moderno jeep that looks almost identical. The high low speed is on a toggle switch. I just switched over to dual milwakee 18v batteries today.. the lights and radio worked for maybe 5 mins. Is there anything I can do for a quick fix or is this kit the only way?
