Was nailing a trim framing together on a miter and had a family member holding the long end when I shot the nail they jumped and caused the nail to come out the side and right into my hand that was holding it. Never did that again😂, I have been watching you since you and your brother were building the cabin, most of my life I have lived by the principal that you can have things even if you don’t have money, you just scavenge for what you need, don’t waste what you have, and be willing to pull some nails. Thanks Kevin, truly learn so much from you, I know you will miss Don as we will.

An old guy had a mill that did specialty lumber for the company I worked for would use his pressure washer to clean the logs. I watched him, a lot of times the logs were dry and the bark would fly off with the dirt. Looked like a good way to clean the timber. He also had a metal detector that he would run over the log before starting. At the company I ran a Stihl crosscut saw that had a 6 foot bar and the chain had a carbide tooth on each link. Took 440 electricity to run it, I really liked using it. When I stopped using it and went back to hauling everyday the guys wrecked it with forklifts. Same thing with my Stihl small chainsaw it only had a 28 inch bar. Some people can't take care of anything.

My dad has a semi load of wood cut every year. He builds and sells hunting blinds, very nice ones. They sell like crazy here. But there's a site where auctions are held near by and there's a band mill sitting there for quite a while. I want to check it out and if it's up to snuff I think we should buy it. We could bring more profit home that way. Can't remember the brand of the milll but it used to be the most popular one. I see guys with them custom cutting on site for people in the area every year.

As several people have said with the sawdust readily available a composting toilet would work well. Also if you really want to play around with the pitch and angle of the carbide tips you can actually achieve a planed finish. We ran tipped blades on all our saws in the mill apart from our big break down saw.

Hi, Just inform that in Nordic countrys we leave a gap between the window frame and the wall frame and we use soft insulation bec spray foam can push the window frame. To install the window frame we always use adjustable window/door screws that are adjustable so you can adjust the window/door if needed after a wile that is why we use soft insulation and have a half inch gap around door/windows. its called karmskruv (frame screw)in swedish if you want to goole it.

My toilet is a "hunter's loo" bucket lined with a bag that's partially filled with sawdust or shredded paper, whatever I have available, as long as it will absorb moisture, and I just throw the bag in my incinerator barrel which is already full of kindling, light it at the end of the day and it all disappears.

I'm not an expert at roofing and/or ice dams. That joint from the existing roof to the lower roof looks like it will leak no matter what you do. Where is a flashing that goes under the existing roof, over the lower roof and a waterproof seal ? Is that a south facing side of the cabin? That Liquid Rubber you applied created a surface that will not slough off a snow load as well as the stock metal finish. Good luck.
