To me it looks like GTR got target fixation and was focused on lining up for a pass on the front straight. He did not react in time for slowing traffic in front. It looks like there were large pieces of Corvette debris spanning the entire width of the track. You can see that the GTR hits some of them after the impact. There wasn't much open space for the evo and SRT to drive to with the amount of debris in front to not slow considerably and retain control. The GTR driver was in full commit and simply didn't react in time. Unfortunate, but I agree that the blame mostly lies with the GTR.

GTR was forced into the grass to brake since the EVo and SRT left him zero room. Not sure why the SRT didn't keep rolling because there was hardly any debris in front of him. Maybe he was rubber necking at the Z06. The SRT driver could have rolled through the grass to get off the race line instead of staying on track and blocking any avenue for the GTR. @@funtdrv hopefully you have looked at the in car video of the GTR. Clearly shows Jason tried to put it into the grass to avoid Doug who was almost stopped on the raceline. I know Doug realizes this and wishes he would have moved over like the Evo driver did to give room for other drivers trying to stop. If the Evo hadn't moved off the raceline then Doug would have slammed into him. Good thinking by the Evo driver. I wish Doug would have done the same. Must use your mirrors and can't be so fixed on the wrecked Z06. Rubber necking causes wrecks. Doug left no room on the track for Jason to stop. The majority of the racing community that has views all videos and were there understand this. Hopefully doug has learned a valuable lesson as Jason has as well. Target fixation can get you, but this is on the same level of "couldn't be avoided" as people who say they had to lay down their bike to avoid impacting a car that pulls out in front of them- brakes work best when your tires are on pavement, instead of on the grass or in the air. The Evo driver slowed and moved over but could have kept driving through the small debris even around the Z06 front bumper that was on the track. The Neon driver should have moved off raceline anticipating cars coming from behind and kept moving forward. Know one expects cars to stop on a front stretch where they should be accelerating.
