39:07 You can *absolutely* take too much responsibility to the point where you are diminishing your own effectiveness. That was one of my mistakes this last year at work in my new leadership role as a leader among leaders. I was happy and willing to support the onboarding of other new departments, but after working 100 hours a week, for 9 straight months, I realized I had enabled an unhealthy dynamic where I was playing Savior while they played the Helpless Victim. I decided I could no longer fight to prevent a crisis of their own making, and letting the crisis unfold was their best teacher. I have cut my work hours in half, they are starting to do their jobs, and I enjoy the freedom of saying NO a lot more often. I'm still there to support and guide within reason - but I won't do their jobs for them anymore. Look up an illustration of "The Drama Triangle: Victim, Persecutor, Rescuer"

1:01:33 I love this new take on productivity. The general consensus is that discipline always triumphs over motivation. But highly disciplined people can easily be taken advantaged of because they lack passion 24:12. I think that "discipline v. motivation" attitude can be confusing because most people aren't robots; we're very emotionally and spiritually driven. And with the right mindset, the work just does itself. You form your own routine, your own goals, rituals that resonate with you.

Chris, I don’t think your combination of views on personal sovereignty and agency together with the overwhelming influence of fate / karma on determining our outcomes is a ‘cope’ at all; I’m pretty sure you’re spot on. We see a similar phenomenon all the way down at the level of our genes. The vast majority of our genomes are identical, the genomic variations between us are in a relatively minuscule number of base pairs. So it is simultaneously true that the overwhelming majority of the genetic code that makes us who we are is identical across the entire species, and also that the variability in those extremely few (relatively) base pairs result in truly extraordinary phenotypic variation from individual to individual. This phenomenon plays out anatomically, physiologically, and psychologically. The vast majority of our anatomy and physiology is extremely consistent across the entire population of healthy people, the fundamentals of who we are are what they are simply by virtue of us being members of the Homo sapiens species. At the same time it is also true that the anatomical and physiological variations between us, as small as they are in the scheme of things, result in tremendous real world differences between us despite how similar we are in the vast majority of our fundamental characteristics. Psychologically also, so much of our “stuff” is actually very consistent across the population and actually quite predictable. If we were as fundamentally different as it may intuitively seem that we are, psychology and psychiatry would be a complete waste of time, and they are not. By a long stretch. At the same time it is also true that we are extraordinarily unique as individuals. The differences between individuals that are empirically very small in the scheme of things are profound in their experiential impact, making the practices of psychology and psychiatry so complex and nuanced despite how similar we are fundamentally. Bringing that all back, it makes perfect sense (IMHO) that technically the overwhelming majority of our experience IS just the ‘naturally determined’ (?) outcome of our genes, circumstances, and experiences, but phenomena like personal sovereignty and agency that are an empirically very small part of the picture have outsized impact in terms of what we ultimately experience.

I think we should use a new lense to look through, like the scientific method. What is there in every situation? Movement/action, emotions, thoughts. But if I am aware of those 3 apects of life, what do I do with it? I think we all need to understand, that emotion's are always the key factor in Relation to thoughts and actions Every factor is interconnected with each other and influences each of them but emotions are the base of it. And because everything is oscillating we should focus on what can change the most and influence our behavior the most. I believe If you are able to identify your emotions, accept them, refraim them and then deal with them, then you will achieve all those other things way easier. Different emotional states = different thoughts = different actions Better emotional state = better thinking = better actions = better emotions ...

One of the most important factors that allowed western capitalism to defeat communist central planning is that the communists specifically the soviets could produce/churn out widgets but they couldn’t innovate like the west with no competition or incentive to work harder.

Be careful about depending on google for anything. If there's anything that is simply factual that for whatever reason becomes politically charged, they will and have gone back to rewrite history and facts and changed the definitions of words, etc. Use them for the here and now, if you must, but don't depend on them if you can avoid it. At least attempt to diversify your resources.

I commented on this video about half an hour after the video upload. Low and behold the comment I commented on has been deleted. Funny 😁 So he said that this dudes face was disturbing and maybe HD video should be banned. I commented that maybe that was because his facial expressions were out of sync with the audio, making him harder to read! Both comments deleted! So on this note I'm unsubscribing, because either this is a weird deep fake, or the channel can't take constructive criticism. Either way I'm disappointed.
