I am unsure what gives India much confidence. They are doing a great balancing act all arround. What if China and USA orchestrated events to keep India in check while they duke it out between them? This will indeed make USA unnecessarily weak but US does not discount anything. Or what if the old alliance between US, europe, australia and Japan is strengthened and india is left for herself to do whatever. The wealth that is coming into India is from USA via multiple players, although there are indeed other players but none so significant.
