About Poland, it was the first country that the EAM visited just after the J&K reorganization bill was passed in both the houses of Indian parliament. It was India's foremost supporter in Europe then. Surprising that PM didn't make a visit then.

The reports around this Kyiv visit by PM Modi is out in the public for at least a month. I don't remember any head of state or head of government, maybe with an exception of Jokowi of Indonesia, who has made such a visit to Ukraine which is planned in this advance, since the start of the war. Every other visit is kept under some wraps out of fear of conflict overspilling. That might also say something about India's credibility.

John Mearshmier was once asked whether lndia falls into the category of a super power who can play a key role in geopolitics in which Prof. Mearshmier very smartly replied that the 3 parameters required to become a superpower are 1) Size of the country with large population 2) Strong economy and 3) Powerful defence industry. Currently according to Prof. Mearshmier only 3 countries fulfill the above three criteria. US, CHINA & RUSSIA. He labelled INDIA as an aspiring super power. All these narratives of MODI stopping the war in UKRAINE or visiting a conflicted zone to appeal for a ceasefire or engagement for peace are all bogus.

Hope this visit to Ukraine succeeds in repairing damage caused to that country’s relations and also irritation caused to western countries by PM’s visit to Moscow and his avoidable proximity to Putin on whose hands there is blood of innocent Ukrainian civilians including women and children. By the way way all this euphoria about global south is nonsensical recall of non aligned movement that made India bankrupt. Similarly, India has nothing to gain from BRICS, a grouping dominated by China and Russia. It is a platform that gives ego boost to PM but don’t give anything to Indians. Current anti west stance of our foreign minister reminds us of Krishna Menon who was the architect of India’s debacle at Chinese hands.
