This BMW E60 M5 is unique in that in addition to some common bolt-on performance items, (and an F80 M3 front bumper), it's had the suspension completely replaced with an Accuair E-Level Air Bag system. Generally, air suspensions are recommended for comfortable cruising and parking lot show car stance, but occasionally we see air suspension systems tuned for sport driving, with often surprising results.

I owned a brand new 08 M5 and went actually 206 mph in it. Best car I've ever owned. Really miss the brutal SMG, which is only fun if you give it the full sausage. Don't know why Matt says it reacts slowly? As I remember it reacts really fast to the drivers inputs, which made it such a great transmission. It still reacts much faster than the AMG Speed Shift in the current C63 AMG!

Yeah, SMG, not a DCT. Few of the big boys in the E60 world are working on DCT conversions, but so far there have only been a couple super expensive conversions. It's too bad headers really kill the sound. I'm approaching 90k miles on mine and think my bank 2 cat is clogging but can't bring myself to go full headers because they lose that V10 wail.

One of my favorite sounding engines of all time and they never feel like they run out of power especially compared to a lower redline V8 such as an LS motor. The reasoning for the SMG2 over a 6spd manual at the time really I think was due to the SMG having an additional 7th gear which increased the performance. I like the way the SMG shifts and I'll take it over any current 6spd, 8spd or 10spd auto transmission any day but DCT is on a whole other level. I also like the trunk design of the M6 LOL

I remember gutting my primaries when I had an 08', car sounded like a diesel tanker. I literally drove the car from Santa Monica to LAX at under 40mph because I was afraid to take it over 3krpms, sounded like death on steroids. Really happy to be done with that car.

Robert Kokas exactly! S85 is the best sounding V10 period. Have to keep the equal length headers or else you get that modified sound that this car now has. Infinity design make THE sickest set of header that are true equal length and a masterpiece or art as well. In reality the stock headers with the cat canister hollowed out gives almost the same result in power which is about 35WHP+ which is insane for a “free” mod. I can not wait to add a manual e60 next to my e92 as I feel that design was way ahead or it’s time and the LCI cars are the best 5 series design Bmw ever came out with. Bold statement but it’s all true.

Funny how most people really dislike the way these sound with headers. You gotta understand though it's one of the few bolt ons you can do with this car to receive a decent power gain. I simply straight piped mine and added an x pipe and everyone seems to love the distinctive V10 sound (vids on channel). But for the people talking shit about it ruining the sound, just know that chances are he did the headers for performance and not the sound. Primary cats on these are pretty restrictive and the AP headers are catless.

I feel like they had the SMG setting at normal, if he had it on 5th or turned off dsc then he could have had it on the 6th setting. I feel like at those settings the gear change happens much faster and harsher with minimul time delay between pressing the paddle or leaver in the center consol.

The front end looks cool with the body work they did with that bumper. Always loved the V10 in these things. The M6 rear is pretty odd shaped, but I still think I'd go with that over the M5. I'm a coupe guy. :)

Aren't you able to adjust the shift speed on the SMG transmissions? I know you can on the e46 M3's, and if so, that's the reason why there was such a delay time between hitting the paddle and the transmission actually shifting.

Man wish you were able to review Nisformance altima se-r. They just pushed out some prototype cams which makes 334whp with a 8k rpm redline n/a. Plus they have a 6 speed swapped maxima, took out that horrible cvt.
