In South Africa we never got the E30 M3 so BMW SA made their own with the 2.7 M20 engine in the form of the 325iS. Made between 194-208bhp. Fantastic car, fantastic sound much like the one in this video and it has quite a cult status among the locals for it's speed and handling.

Hats off to Ryan and his dad for keeping this car alive. At 17 yrs old your story reminds me a lot about my teenage years and first car. My first car was a 1976 Fiat Spyder. It was a beauty, but as reliable as a wet paper bag ;^( My dad and I worked on it every weekend. It was a great bonding experience and I learned so much about cars which turned in to a passion for cars. I can already tell Ryan is a "car guy" with many years of fixin' cars ahead cause sometimes you just got the bug and can't leave well enough alone. ;^)

he should BOOST it dude ! Trust me. s50 swaps dont really make sense unless you're gonna boost them, they only make like 220-240hp. since his engine's basically built, he can throw a turbo on there and make an easy 280. + it would be A LOT lighter than the s50 .
@carbonemtree8 жыл бұрын
his engine is not built its mofe like assembled, he has stock 25+ year internals..consider that the engine design and computer are very old so in order to achieve any power safely and reliably is to fork up the cash for aftermarket ecu which is as much as the s5x engines. I wont get into powerbands and driver feels of turbo vs N/A with this type of car. also traction is an issue with these cars under power, rear trailing armlife.. you dont need big power with these cars. 250-300 is more then enough. cheers
@imSchwaggy8 жыл бұрын
+zombiecheef true. I wouldn't suggest more than 300 to the wheels with these lol. they're stupid light. but built in the sense that he has heads cams mad injectors etc. I'm sure they did studs n stuff, so I mean it would be fun to boost and keep light weight. Why doesn't anybody upgrade their brakes?!
@trbsu8 жыл бұрын
+daniel0663 Understandable, but I imagine you could at least improve the rotors and pads from stock which is all you really need on a 2500lb car. It's a common theme in the one-take videos I've seen, most people add power and leave their brakes stock.
@TheSmokingTire8 жыл бұрын
+trbsu most people don't go to track days, most people don't even really drive the canyons that much. My quick drives in many of these cars is the hardest they are ever driven. Following that knowledge, these owners never even push their stock brakes to the limits, and will get more pleasure out of 50 extra HP than they would from bigger brakes.
@trbsu8 жыл бұрын
+TheSmokingTire Fair enough, since it sounds like most of the one takes are DDs that see occasional spirited driving. I ask since my personal mods list usually begins with brakes and ends with power, but I guess I'm a bit strange. Although, spending money and adding power to a DD that's rarely driven hard seems strange too.
@ItsJoshN8 жыл бұрын
The latest issue of super street went over this. Like Matt said, most people want an extra 50-100hp when compared to spending money on brakes. Nice pads and vented rotors are All most ppl want
@chrisdontworryaboutit89988 жыл бұрын
+trbsu Whether you have 100hp or 500hp, it takes the same amount of braking to stop from whatever speed. Most of the cars on this show are just modified to satisfy some addiction and not for tracking. Tires are a better place to spend money for better braking than the brakes for most uses. Unless you are running up and down public mountain roads at 10/10ths (which would make you a moron) Anything more than upgrading the pads and fluid is a waste for street driven cars.

@mvpatrone8 жыл бұрын
Might be slow in a straight line, but a good driver can put these around a track faster than your avg track day driver. Also these cars don't need upgraded brakes. Stock holds up just fine and is what the SpecE30 race cars use.

+mvpatrone So a good driver will be faster than an average driver... very novel information there...
