Nice, wonder how it will handle trout magnets. I can throw trout magnets alright with the stock spool on mine, but that spool will probably handle them even better.

I don’t understand why you are taking a perfectly engineered reel and potentially turning it into a piece of junk. I have this reel and it casts everything effortless. I’ve thrown lures under 2 grams a country mile and never got a backlash. The money spent on these ridiculous mods could have bought another reel

i have calcutta dc 200.. do you have a 200 size calcutta or seen it in person ? reason i ask is because i'm wondering to get a bfs calcutta but it seems like the size is almost identical

The BFS is smaller, more like a 100 size with a 50 spool. (shallow spool) I have the 200 Ocea Conquest HG and PG as well as the BFS and 200 Calcutta Conquest.

@@TheFishingKit is the body of the bfs and the 100/200 almost feel the same in the hands? i think im just going to get the Shimano 22 Aldebaran BFS XG give a low profile light weight a try since already have a round reel and i love round reels..i fish ocean salt open bay so im throwing 7 to 15 to 20 grams lures and want to play with BFS for my fish i catch but sometimes they can be big as we have bone fish and big 50+ pound bay rays

@@thatonebeone BFS reels are for lighter applications, I would probably max out at 10g and never use it for anything over. Might want to look at a 100 size for the application you are thinking of.

@@TheFishingKit yeah i order a expride rod ML bfs and its max lure is 15 grams.. im going to keep it under 15 grams since my dc200 will be more my thing i will use for 10 to 28 grams since my rod MH expride is that specs... cant wait to catch some nice bass with a BFS i bet its going to be fun

How much does the spool way without that pin/spool shaft? That’s not really part of the rotational force so it shouldn’t be weighed with the spool

4.9g for everything, the shaft is 0.05g so that's 4.4g without the pin.

Good choice...but the BFS is quite a specialist reel. It is used for only ONE thing...so think carefully before you invest on this one.

you should use avail spool, so that you can still use stock braking system (with magnet kit) cause stock braking system is better than korean magnet braking style

Hi Mark, its a good option, but spending a lot more money on something that I've already spent a lot on was too much for me, this spool still uses the stock system and has an additional magnets and holder you put on the stock system, although the stock system takes a back seat, it still has a little effect on the spool...also costs less than half the price with the braking system included. so...quite a better deal to be honest.

What line and rod were you using to struggle to cast under 5g with the cqbfs? I use 0.1mm braid and a tsurinoya 2-8g proflex and have no issues casting 2g. 1.5g jig head and a 3cm 0.5g soft plastic. Also used it with a 1.6g trout spoon on a 1-5g trout rod. Also no issues. This is standard.

I wasn't struggling to cast it, I was struggling to cast good distances with it. I fish saltwater with this, so I need distance to cover ground. Sorry I wasn't clear about it. I use .0067mm Momoi Oshikage. Most everything I do, isn't standard. :)

the before is all ok until you get under 5g. It is already a fantastic reel as Stock. When you get under 5g, thats really when the challenge starts - with ceramic bearings I was able to cast down to 3g, but I want to see if I can make this perform like my modified Abu that can cast 1g jigheads and soft plastics a good distance...so we'll see. I will be using that rod I made for the Abu and see how it performs.
