I’ve been using yo up’s since I was a teenager and I’m 52 now. Funny how the younger generation aren’t as familiar with them as we were when I was a kid. They worked great and still do. Just have to set the tension for the fish you’re going after and have lots of bait! Enjoy my friend.

Just waiting on a couple of these yoyos to arrive for my survival fishing kit. Thanks to you I will modify them as suggested, plus retie the swivel with a better knot! I have some bait keeper treble hooks that I will pack as well as a few standard eagle claws.

The original swivels are tied on poorly. I untie the original swivel and tie it with a better not. Before I do however, I slide on a small egg sinker. Not only will that help sink the line but prevent wear at the knot at the end of the line where the swivel is attached when it snaps back onto the spool.

Love the mod! Going to get me some springs... FYI you can tighten the tention of the line on the yo yo as well so it snaps back quicker and pulls harder simply by winding the a few loops of line extra on the reel. Of course can also add extra better quality line.

I am a yoyo cat fisher, I replace the original line with 100 lb test nylon on my yoyos, love the spring that is awesome! Big fish break the yoyos in half but I think the spring would help with that! Thanks for the tip

you can also remove the swivel entirely and tie on bank line to the yoyo's original line, this makes it longer and allows deeper fishing.

I've used bungee cords on limb lines before whenever I couldn't find a good Springy limb to hang from and had to use a log, large tree branch or whatever

The umbrella rig is designed more for trolling for white bass or stiper. These fish attack moving baitfish that are swimming in schools. They are usually swimming in open water. using this rig for catfish can be risky because the rig would be on the bottom and very likely to get stuck.

zip ties would work also but the bungee eliminates having to cut off the zip tie every time you move the yo yo.

There's also a way to make the hook set harder simply by getting a shorter spring like the one you used and then connect that shorter spring to the part that sets the trigger that sets the hook and then to either whatever the bungy cord is hanging on or straight to the other coil. When the fish hits it will pull the trigger which releases the short coil which sets the hook hard while the fish then pulls on the longer coil.

You mentioned Uncle Steve, he uses a type of microphone or recorder that he attaches to his shirt to help with the sound. It blocks out most of the wind and other noises and focuses on his voice. Check it out I think it would help hearing you in your videos. Thanks again for the videos.

If you tie your yo-yo to a limber limb it will do the same thing. Without the extra cost, weight, and room in your ice chest or whatever you keep them in.
