Does this lens have a zoom of 120? Is it for events? Is it a good lens for photos and video? I'm about to buy one but I'd like to know for sure!

I used this more for fun its defiantly not ideal for events more for casual artsy photos, (this video at 9:12 for examples) sadly my camera died and I have not been able to replace it yet to test out more stuff.

On Canon XL-1 lenses, how do you open the aperture blades? Would you know what pin contacts used to apply voltage to open up blades?

I do not know for sure I havnt dug that deep yet I haven't had the time but what I did for temporary was hold the blades open with some folder over paper, attached to the motor was a metal bar that controlled how open or closed the aperture blades where and I just opened them all the way, ideally I'd like to replace the motherboard with a new one and add a battery and a way to charge it with a small dial that controlled how open it was but im not quite that tec smart to program such a board but id love to learn one day!

Like how to open it? Unfortunately no but you know what ill make a short one after work! I wanted to make it so I can adjust it on the fly but I just had my son so I've been busy but I do want to make a mod of that aswell down the road.

Have you thought of trying to adapt it to a GoPro? It would be the correct size sensor for the lens.

Well you could get a M42 and screw it into your lens then get a M42 to whatever your camera uses that would be my best guess I don't quite know if anyone sells these

@@pedrosimoes22 you will also have to mess with the back element screwing it in or backing it out to adjust the focus. Thats why I machined mine so it fit flush where the old one was

I would love an adapter for my canon EOS 6DMK2 for this lens any tips on how to modify this lens? As I am getting one from a friend this week. He had no use for it and just sends it to me. He said you can probably use it on your canon dslr. But no. So can I modify it myself and what do I need? Please help me out. Thanks so much.

You will need a jewlers set of screw drivers so you can take the back cover off to open the apature as for coming into focus I have had luck with my sony a6000 with adjusting the elements on the lens but it is easier to get with spare optics for my A7S I dont currently have a Canon dslr but I have a efs adaptor and I can try and help the best I can

I used a m42 to ef-s and drilled holes and mounted it to the lens but you can use whatever, So for you I'd say get a m42 and a m42 to EF-M for your lens type I believe? I'm not an expert by any means but I'll try to help the best I can.

The m42 screw mount helped me get the focus I needed by moving the lens far enough away from the sensor.

If you put the right adaptor on the lens I suppose it should work thats a crop sensor right? I've used it with my Canon T3i i just attached a m42 to EF on it cause I machined a m42 mount to fit my lens.

You may need to play with the rear element a little screwing it in or out a little to get the right focus.
