It’s the father in-laws and is apparently the first midget imported and complied in Australia. Asked him a bit more about it and it turns out he used to import and comply them for years. If you guys run into any issues let me know and I’m happy to fire some questions his way on your behalf.

These are so weird! The interior is really asymmetric. The rear view mirror in not in the middle, the head unit is on the wrong side, if you want to get out on the passenger(?) side you will cop a gearstick knob right where you don't really want it. Quirkiness aside though, I have to say it's a cute little bugger!
@toypop962 жыл бұрын
The two seater versions are even weirder; only available as a column shift auto since a manual would be awkward with the gearstick between the passenger’s legs, and the second seat is literally just a little stool grafted on to the end of the driver’s seat. Would be very cosy to say the least.

The midget was probably used as a village school bus of sorts and the cable ties were for children to hold on. Given the payload is 150kg you would have had 15 x 10yr olds in there so that many cable ties makes perfect sense.

If you can't find those side skirts in JP (or locally) you could easily fix them by chopping off all the tabs (all remaining 3) and have Marty make a surround piece out of stainless, that hits all 4 points, then glue the cover as a fascia over it with a little bit of epoxy. I've done this many times with panels like these (battery boxes, oil service doors). It's a very durable repair that doesn't look bad either when you take it off. I usually make these "skeletons" out of 3 mm stainless steel wire, it's easy to bend and has more than enough structure to support a part five times the size of your parts.
