/ followthecompassnorth I basically explain the whole thing in the video so if you're reading the description consider hitting the "Like" button, it helps a lot in telling KZbin to push my stuff out there. A subscribe is better but you've already been told that by every video..... ever...

I have that same crusher, and the bottleneck is always the apple cutting. That's a good idea with the motor.

I don't know your background. But reversing the direction of an single phase AC motor is quite easy and based on your soldering skille, it should he easy for you. Would have saved the shaft changing mess.

You're 100% correct. I didn't take the time to identify the starter winding and reverse these polarity which is in my ability. I just powered the main and didn't think about the starter winding.... thanks for the reminder.

@@FollowTheCompassNorth Thank you for a great video. I'm fortunate one of the local farmers holds a few weekends a year where everyone can come and use his tractor powered pulper. The trade being. He will pulp, press, pasteurize and bottle (with added ascorbic acid) the juice, but he keeps half to sell. Your setup maybe large enough to offer similar.

It's pretty simple. Once you have the setup you can make unlimited apple cider. They say money doesn't grow on trees.... but apples sure do.

Love your videos man! I do custom knife work as well, I would love to order one of your knives to support another maker. Out of curiosity, what camera setup do you use for your videos?

hey there nice work, i`d want to try out the electric drill version by "automating" it with a clamp on the throttle and a (maybe wooden) stopblock to keep the drill from spinning, can you give some information about the grinder, where you got it from, brand and stuff?! thanks

And I would have just used a zip-tie on the drill's trigger at the appropriate speed, and turned it on/off by removing the the drill battery. But I am not smart enough to do it the fancy way like you.

It just bounces a lot before getting caught. It's a huge time savings to cut them and check for rot at the same time.

??couldn't you have just done a 180 with the orientation and mounting of the motor? the shaft and sprocket would still stick out inline with the main shaft whether you put the motor on the outside or inside of a custom frame.

I tried that but it made the whole thing off balance and prone to tipping off the bucket that I put it on. I needed easy to lift and move around. A tight package.

We ground multiple hundreds of pounds of apples. Using the crank is slow, requires someone to be at the grinder constantly, and is a lot of work. It's not efficient for the amount of apples we grind.

Jesus Christ, man - please learn a lesson here. That was a solution without a problem. Just return the mixer and use something better. Proof of concept was probably good enough.
