Looks like you got it figured out, (Not because I'm old) however, I don't really like electronic scales 100% as you pointed out, they will lie to themselves and say "Good enough" and end the weighing cycle. One thing I always take into consideration, powder burns. The amount of powder burns differently every time you pull the trigger because of barrel condition, fouling load vallum and such, (Yes,, powder that is unburned goes out the muzzle) How much that is changes and there is nothing you can do about it.. So,, throwing extremally close powder throws will have No effect on your groupings over exact powder throws that you had whiningly measured out. anyway, peace out dude - Dave

Yep. Close enough is usually good enough for what we do and what we can’t control. I like the beam scale a lot. Accuracy isn’t going to be affected by shady electronic drifting on a beam scale. Thanks, Dave!

Drama, drama 🍼👶 I’ll pick up some check weights soon. For now, I just want my different scales to read the same thing. The RCBS is probably wandering, you’re right. I’m gonna trickle charges on the beam scale and see what my other scales say they weigh. That will be scale video #4 😂

For quick load development, my Dillon is perfect. I can grab a powder bottle, partially fill a small bowl, half fill my trickler, and weigh out & fill 30-35 prepped & primed cases with a tiny scoop and the trickler loading the pan directly on the scale for a ladder test that day faster than filling up the powder reservoir on my digital Lyman 1200 DPS 3 or RCBS Chargemaster, waiting for them to warm up, zero checking them, running 30-35 cases, then unload the powder from the reservoir and clean up the mess in and around the digital powder dispenser. And my SD's are actually a slight bit tighter than with the digitals. The old Lyman will often "drift" to throwing .2 grains off fairly frequently, so I try to limit its use to bulk range practice ammo that's nowhere near max load. I saw a stat somewhere that a properly adjusted & calibrated beam scale could be as accurate as +/- .06 grains, so potentially a touch better resolution than a typical sub-$500 digital powder dispenser (at +/-.1 grain listed resolution). Perfect for spot-checking and small jobs. I'm retired, so time savings isn't as much of an issue. For someone who is impatient, isn't a fan of the reloading process, or just wants to get out and shoot, probably not the best method. But it works for me. Thanks for your review. (PS you scored. I paid nearly twice that price for my LNIB Dillon on the 'Bay).

Nice Job! I know I have fought issues like this. Prolly why I have like 5 beams scales and a couple electric powder throwers and some stand alone digital scales. My old Ohaus 10/10 seems to always be on tho.

That will make it read what I want it to, but the zero will be off.

I’m f I set my RCBS to zero and it is off all I have to get it to read zero screw that foot in or out. Same thing if check it with calibration weights.

@brianwood7882 If you adjust it to your calibration weights, then your zero will be off. You’d just keep going back and forth with the leveler.

@@TinManReloading You know the screw in the tray under the pan, holds that assembly together, and there is a certian amount of weight inside there as set by the factory when they made the scale. Couldnt you add or take away that .2 grains to those weights under the pan to get it to zero? or for your checkweights ? but I guess that would throw off the poise weights in your situation. Stuff that makes my brain hurt! 🤔🤐🤨

I probably shouldn’t have bought one 😂 They pop up frequently on eBay. All I did was do a “saved search” for Dillon Eliminator and my phone would give me a notification every time a new one was listed. Once I found a good deal, I jumped on it.

It would be interesting to find out how accurate the beam scale is by trickling up to the kernel and then measuring it on the digital scales to remove any rounding algorithms.
