Transit connect ( 1st generation) wheelarches go pretty much straight on Terry and as well as looking amazing will cover the wheels really well mate. Got to say the van looks ace with the banded steels. Regards. Mark
@Tdevil869 ай бұрын
Thanks dude, I’d really like to try some connect arches, ideally from a facelift if I can find some, the front arches taper in around the lower front bumper which I think would work well on a mk7 🤔 proving quite difficult finding some atm though

Cosworth engine in that transit please Terry! Some good alloys, lowered and a quad exhaust!
@Tdevil869 ай бұрын
As much as I’d like to, a cossie engine won’t be happening, it’s my work van so needs to stay practical, same with alloys really, our roads are no good for alloy wheels atm hence going for banded steels… lowering is coming soon though hopefully, that should make the van look a ton better and hopefully handle better aswel

Hi there what lowering system did you go for. I just bought s transit and I would also like to lower it. Have you got the Web site links too please. Loving your journey with the van
@Tdevil868 ай бұрын
@@leetozer4077 thanks mate, I actually have a video I should be uploading over the weekend showing how Iv lowered mine and what Iv used, iv just simply done a strut drop on the front and lowered the rear 80mm using mod your connect leaf spring and gas adjustable shocks. It was actually pretty straight forward and easy to be fair.

I have to agree mate, I have a thing for a modified van, I have to say, little modified pick ups do it for me aswel and I think I need one soon haha Iv seen a few different grills on a mk7, I wouldn’t trying a simple badge less grill to be honest, that’ll have to come when I have a go at painting it I think

Basically ringed my vans putting the wrong plates on the old/new van after washing them 🤦🏼 had the police show up at my house to point out my cock up, luckily I didn’t get fined or charged for fraud or something stupid 🙈 not one of my finer moments it has to be said lol

crikey, you went out into daylight + you didn't melt... i must of missed the episode when you fitted the revolving plates... gan canny on the lowering, like you say, building sites, just a bit out the back i reckon do you not have your van sign-written

Yeh I messed up with my plates, I put the old van plates on the new one and vice versa after cleaning them both, had a lovely visit from the police to inform me of my cock up aswel 🤦🏼😅 I had my last can sign written but in the 6yrs it was sign written I think I only even got 2-3 jobs from it, most people go by word of mouth or sites like check a trade these days so they can see reviews etc…

I have a mk7 tourneo and using adapter plates converted to a 5x108 fitment currently have JR15 alloys 17in and was wondering is there a method to repairing the pitted rims it looks like lacquer peel on the rim ?
@Tdevil869 ай бұрын
If they’re car alloys you need to be careful, vans need load rated wheels really chap… As for pitting, that’s probably oxidation on your alloy which has popped the lacquered layer, it’ll just be a case of rubbing them back and painting them, or just have them refurbished.
@stuartrobson48919 ай бұрын
@@Tdevil86 cheers yeah I've had load rated tyres fitted had them on 2 years wheels are still true and no cracks or splits
@paulhaybyrne9 ай бұрын
Great video mate. Where did you get the first set of wheels you put on it. Got an 11 plate mk7 myself and hate the current shopping trolley wheels that are on it currently but can’t afford expensive ones
@Tdevil869 ай бұрын
I just got them off market place, I still have them if you want them, I need my £350 back on them though, they’re abit rough looking but solid, 2 front tires will need changing soon aswel. I prefer these over alloys, all alloys for sale have cracks of had cracks welded up because our roads are so buggered atm, steel wheels are much stronger!
@paulhaybyrne9 ай бұрын
@@Tdevil86 I’d love them but just don’t have the money for them right now. Totally agree regarding steel over alloy and when I can afford I ll def be going that route. Looking forward to the rest of the vids on the van 👍

had to turn off when you mentioned heat gun, cowboy fix, bumpers are now brittle
@Tdevil865 ай бұрын
I have to disagree, they’re still plenty good enough, I’m sure once glimpse of a heat gun isn’t going to hurt them anymore than 11yrs out in the elements lol

Wheels look good. Wondering if the heat treatment will work on my painted bumpers, they were just black plastic originally 😮
@Tdevil869 ай бұрын
I’m not sure if it would work if they’ve been painted, heating them up draws the oils back out so might ruin your paint?

Thank you mate, and I am indeed yes. I have looked into wrapping it but it’s rather costly and where I need to drive to for jobs sometimes it probably wouldn’t last long, atleast with paint I can touch in bits if I need to… be good practice for potentially painting my cars down the line aswel… Happy Easter dude

@doraexplora904629 күн бұрын
At that temperature and distance, you are just re-melting the plastic. Not "bringing out the black" as you put it. I imagine the texture would be smooth and not original.
@Tdevil8625 күн бұрын
The texture is the same, I didn’t melt the bumpers! the heat brings them back to life by bringing the natural oils back to the surface, it’s obviously not going to last forever but has lasted a good few months since doing it.
@doraexplora904624 күн бұрын
@@Tdevil86 OK. Stop. "bringing the natural oils back to the surface'??? OK. We're done.
