Great video! I have some 4 gram dr pulley sliders that I need to add solder to make them 7.5 grams. I noticed when you drove out the center brass piece it looked like it cut a ring of the nylon the size of the brass. I suppose the nylon is very thin in that area and the brass cannot be removed while keeping the nylon in tact. I would hate to damage a set of expensive sliders, but I need to add more weight than foil or epoxy will add.

ShareCraft It is thin there and I don't see much other way of easily removing the centers in them without that part getting knocked out. I'd look at it like this... if you need 7.5g sliders and only have 4g, they aren't of great value anyway short of trying to resell them.

So removed engine and mounted motor so now motor is rotating speed but CVT roller think is not starting untill motor is fully speed. I would to convert rollers that need to start when motor is minimal speed. Any help
@49ccscoot3 жыл бұрын
Heavier weights would make the CVT start shifting earlier. Lighter weights make it shift later. So heavier for lower RPM, lighter for higher RPM. Could also be clutch related. Maybe you need softer clutch springs so the clutch engages earlier.
@cjinasia92663 жыл бұрын
Less acceleration, use lighter weights. For the clutch question, you need much lighter clutch springs but you have another problem. The electric motor spins far slower than a petrol motor and with much less torque. It is not going to work well. You would be better off buying a properly engineered electric bike. E-bikes have direct drive electric motors built into the rear wheel. There is no clutch or drive belt, just a switch and a VFD. They are also much lighter than a petrol scooter.

I've nearly always got modified rollers in my scoot. As long as whatever the filler is can hold up, doesn't damage the variator (keep it more narrow than the rest of the roller insert so it won't wear away at things) and doesn't come out, there should be no issue.

Unless you did something like filling a corner with solder and leaving the rest empty, I don't think it's sensitive enough to changes to matter. If you're packing aluminum foil in there, it's consistent enough. I've never had any trouble with it as long as you are careful to keep each weight equal.

I had a problem with the aluminium foil method. Some became loose and fell out and got stuck between rollers and ramps. I think because i made them too "loose" by compressing the foil too much they moved around and eventuelly came out of some of the rollers center hole. Next attempt is to use leighter rollers as a base so i can use a bigger volume of alu foil in order to have it sit tigher. Or maybe go the longer but seemingly more secure and stable way of cutting a thread inside the roller and use a chopped up screw. Will update when i get new results.

The question to play around the roller weight to achieve full throttle at 6,800rpm or 8500rpm ?
@49ccscoot2 жыл бұрын
Redline doesn't tell you where peak power is. You would be better off to use dyno graphs or manufacturer reported horsepower and torque peaks to help you decide what RPM to tune for. That's just a baseline. Then you would need to do some timed acceleration runs or other performance tests to find what actually works the best for your setup.

Heavier rollers decrease RPM. That's their direct effect. Could be bad, could be good. Depends on the setup. This is a tuning trick to save some money while figuring it out. Stock scooter with heavier rollers will prob run worse, because it will rev too low.

What is your expirience on clutch springs, i need more take off speed, should i do stiffer or softer springs, i think softer the springs are better the start is.
@49ccscoot7 жыл бұрын
You need to find the right ones for each application. Stiffer springs raise the engagement RPM, but if you go too stiff the belt will start moving and then you lose the best ratio for a strong takeoff before the clutch ever engages. Watch the belt with each spring swap, and try some very short timed runs if you can't tell for sure any other way which springs are giving you the best launch.

+marion ramirez I think your odometer is off if you took 4 15 minute trips and that was 800 miles. You were literally going 800MPH otherwise. Surprised the whole scooter didn't melt. :P I've had great luck with DrPulley sliders. I've only ever used their rollers in an over range pulley and that thing flattens everything I've tried in it prematurely, including the DrP rollers and sliders. I've got sliders here from Hoca and other variators that have 5,000+ miles on them. If you're flattening them out in 800 miles it's gotta be an issue in your CVT I'd think. Running too hot or the variator is rough or worn.

@49ccscoot9 жыл бұрын
Gotta be some serious friction there for the variator to experience "bluing" from heat. Maybe the belt is slipping (should be glazed on the edges and you will see black marks on the pulleys). For the Minarelli, the Hoca variators regularly break guides. A member of the forum extended the guides successfully to solve that issue. I haven't heard of the Hoca having issues with sliders and I use sliders in all of mine. My ramps do wear, but I get thousands of miles from them not hundreds.
@marionramirez2369 жыл бұрын
i checked the belt and is not "shiny"and no marks, var is clean , i think im going to measure the band tomrw, and also there is almost nothing of black dust from the belt, it was very very clean. what im worry is about var warping due high temp. i never saw that even in teh cheap dhl ,koso and stock ones.....ramps presented almost not wear , i think i opened the cvt on time , because as i told you with the other ones , once one of the rollers is in bare cooper bye bye to all the system,,,, i also didn't know the ebay belts (gates,bando ,and a "japanese brand ") were ALL FAKES , by now ,if alive, one of these belts from ebay will be a mess inside the cvt full of black dust ( which i had to clean every 5 or 6 days) . can you tell me ~ time of life of these hoca guides, they looked pretty good, are not even worn (only thing is the one broken of course). i used to open the cvt every time i returned from every ride because i was worry something breaks , it is a nightmare when you don't trust equipment !!!! i have dr's guides too , but i don't trust them i got my first set and were broken badly in my first test ride...... nice new videos by the way.. :) i had the valve identification size problem , not anymore.....

For me, how long the guides last depends on how the variator is setup and if I push to top speed. If the variator can open far enough that the ramp and guides are making minimal contact with the variator, I can break them first time out. If it'setup so half or more of the guide is in cotnact with the variator, they last a while.

@@eternalrage1085 Most of the time you aren't going to get a specific RPM at all times while full throttle, so if you can keep it between TQ and HP peaks that's great. Best way to know is to test. Rollers will flat spot at some point. Sometimes it takes a long time, sometimes it doesn't. Depends on the rollers and the application. DrPulley sliders are shaped different and they have held up very well for me. Most of the times that I have had them wear it was because of a CVT failure or something major, rather than everyday use. They may also improve performance a little over rollers because of their design.

Which weight make the bike go faster light or heavy weight?
@49ccscoot5 жыл бұрын
Depends what it needs. Lighter raises RPM and heavier lowers RPM. Either way can make it slower if you go too far. The idea is to adjust so the CVT keeps the engine in it's powerband.

More weight in rollers means , more power ?
@49ccscoot3 жыл бұрын
More accurately, I'd say more weight means lower RPM. If you happen to make more power at lower RPM than currently tuned; then more weight means more power. On the flip side, if you have more torque, you do tend to need heavier weights.

I keep wanting to hear what the different weights will do... I can imagine a heavier weight will make the sprocket change shape faster....and the converse is true for lighter. So if you want to hold a "low" gear for a longer period of time for acceleration...the lighter you go... the opposite again...for well...the opposite to occur.

No idea what a g6 vac s is. Weigh what you have and adjust accordingly. If you need more revs, go a little lighter. If you need less RPM, go a little heavier.

what changing weight achieves and how or why?
@49ccscoot2 жыл бұрын
The simple answer is that heavier weights lower RPM and lighter weights raise RPM. The goal for performance would be to keep within peak power RPM range as much as possible.
@AvenidaGez8 жыл бұрын
I see some videos about this, but what for? Could you explain that? what happens in the whole system with heavier rollers, and lighter rollers? Is there a bad design from source, so we need to change them? What I think, a heavier roller will amke the pulley to close faster, this is at lower revolutions, so it is like going from first to third very fast, this is the moto is slow at the start, at the end it is the same becasue full speed is only by the ratio of the pulleys, so there is no change (no more speed). With lighter rollers, you have a long first with much more acceleration of the motor (more rpms), not of the moto movement. To keep max speed may be, lets say you need 8000 rpm with lighter rollers, while with heavier rollers you need 6000 rpm. That is ok but not advantage, becasue at 6000 rpm, the scooter speed will be slower too, so at then end at 8000 rpm the speed will be the same, with lighter or heavier rollers.
@49ccscoot8 жыл бұрын
+Avenida Gez It sound like you already understand what's happening. In even more simple terms, lighter for more revs, heavier for less, and tune to stay in the powerband as much as possible for best performance.

I see I can change the weight . So , I get sliders as heavy as 20 gram , if not , no problem . Press out the 20's from the rollers , put them in the freezer for a day . Take one out and it should slip in easy . Now I need to find some sliders .

The ID of the rollers and sliders may be different. You will also need to check the weight if they do fit. It's not likely to be right on the spec of the rollers that the inserts come from.

@49ccscoot8 жыл бұрын
+Super Mario Plush Bros 1 I am a fan on sliders. In my experience, they have far outlasted rollers in most cases. The only variator I have that will eat sliders and rollers about the same is the Malossi over range. Otherwise, sliders last a very long time for me. I mostly use DRPulley, but even a set of cheap sliders I had did very well.
