Thanks! Using this video and some wiring schematics I was able to replace a $271.90 part (32900-05210) (7 wire) with a $7.49 part (5 wire) and get my brother's Suzuki 125SP running again - after being dormant for about 30 years.

The original CDI would fire at low RPM (kick starting), but not higher RPMs (idle), so the bike would fire but never run for more than a few revolutions. We worked with the carburetor for way too long before we decided that it might not be getting spark at more than kick starting RPMs.

I have been working on JDs for a long long time and believe it or not this is my first ever experience with a 1969 JD SSI system. But thanks to Rolling Wrench it was a easy way to learn about this system. Great teacher and I found his point by point instructions spot on. Just made my job infinitely easier. I am an old guy and I never even saw on of these units until this past February when a customer asked me why it would run. Opened the hood and saw Solid State Ignition and I said s&@t where did this come from? LOL This must have been a year year engine. Thanks for the help.

You have that ignate soul of a teacher,Nowadays i can proudly say i know all this by heart.I am a telecommunication technician and understand how these things work very well.I wish i had seen this video 3 or four years ago when the so called mechanics of Miami got me so frustrated that i decided to learn by myself,i feel i live in the outback,what a disaster..I have been through hell and back learning everything about scooters and motorcycles..I have had 28 motorcycles and scooters combined.I am 52..and nowadays when i watch videos of mechanics i can tell right away who is a part changer ,like the ones i ran away from and a real mechanic that makes perfect sense like you..I give you credit,the highest credit for your true knowledge and will to share it with others..You do not need advertizing because you do know what you are doing and saying,and i am very proud of you..Even though this is something i know very well i want to thank you for your time and dedication..If i had met a mechanic like you,i would not know what i know today..Nowadays i love this,but when you depend on yourself to fix your vehicles without knowing these things , like it happened to me.it gets really frustrating,now at the end of the road i feel i have won a battle..I see more than a few thumb downs on this video,and these are probably dudes who are jealous of your high IQ..Disregard these pigs that only think about eating their next meal..These are the dudes who unethically oppose people like you and me ,because we earn our living honestly with transparency and honesty..When you are good,and you are excellent,you can be showing it all,and yet you will become even a stronger magnet to attract great customers to your business,versus the shady dudes whose mechanical practices suck..i do not do this for a living and i have parts and tools most shops here in Miami do not have and thats embarrassing.For years i heard things from shop owners here that are too frustrating to mention publicly..One thing i do wanna say is, many mechanics would tell me that it would be better to buy a new engine than to fix anything in the gear box.I was not sure about that and one day i bought a 12 ton shop press and people laughed at me.Today after 12000 miles of hard riding i can tell you this.i bought all the ball bearings on line,and i rebuilt a gear box on a 150 cc from A to Z,i replaced every bearing by high quality japanese ones and this scooter glides,way much better than when i bought it brand new,totally smooth like a japanese scooter..i even replaced the ones in the swing arm as well as the gears..to make it even better i mix my own gear box oil using a viscosity chart and the results are amazing..but i have said enough and the truth is you are a great representation of what a mechanic should be in this great nation..Very few like you,you do make a difference,thumbs up and the very best for you,i feel sorry for pretentious mediocre part changers who live on scamming and lying to make a living

I recently got a 1986 kaw Concourse and cannot get fire at the plugs.? Voltage from IGN to CDI box 12v or 9v for security, I have heard that there's a diode on IGN that reduce the voltage. Have juice at coils. It's the only one I can not seem to crank. Bumbing me out.

Diodes aren't used in a circuit to alter voltage,resistors are.Diodes conduct current in one direction only,like a one way valve.Voltage drop over a diode is usually 0.7 volts,unless it's a Zener diode.

there are also some CDIs with strange wirings. Some Qingqi use both AC and DC. The DC is only for the microchip. SYM Mio the same but 2 wires changed place compared to that Quingqi. It's an open field finding out all differrent wirings on CDIs. Greets from Germany!

Incredible video on CDI boxes and how they work. I have a 2010 Brute Force 750 and I was in the process of taking the battery out and before I could detach the battery terminals it slipped and made contact with the frame of the bike. I heard an electrical distortion as if a fuse had blown but all fuses are good and it appears the relays are ok too. Now when I turn the ignition to on the light switch doesn't work or the push start button won't work either and the fan immediately comes on. Also the FI is flashing codes 11, 12, and 14 which have nothing to do with my issue. I also tried bridging the solenoid to see if it would start. It will turn over but not crank. After unplugging the Fuel Pump relay I ran a jumper wire from the input directly to the positive battery terminal to see if the pump would run and it turned on instantly. Another interesting discovery was that when I hooked the battery up to a charger and combined it with the jumper wire to the battery charger positive terminal my electric headlights and push-start button was working again but the bike still won't start. It sounds like it wants to start but just simply continues to turn over. If anyone knows the reason or could pinpoint what the issue is feel free to share thanks.👍😎👌

Did you get it running ..??
@J.Crooner
@J.Crooner Жыл бұрын
@@jerrybigrig9475 No still no luck. I did discover today that for some strange reason my rear spark plug coil shuts down all electrical power to the ATV only when it's connected to the spark plug depending on how you move the coil. Under normal circumstances it's nothing really unusual about that but I'm not understanding why all the electrical power would shutdown because of a simple spark plug/coil connection. I don't have any spark from both coils. I never could of imagined that a battery could cause this much electrical damage and confusion.😳

Hey there rolling wrench, I'm hoping you can shed some light on a couple issues I'm having from 2 different upgrade parts I installed on my 2006 Honda CRF450X SuperMoto. The first one is my 100watt stator and reg/rectifier kit from TRAIL TECH. What I am confused with is the regulator/rectifier that came with this kit. There are 2 adjustable knobs on the top, one is for setting "delay" and the other is for "voltage". The only info I have on this is from the installation instruction sheet that came with the kit, and that consist of a single paragraph accompanied with a picture of the REG/REC under the title "adjusting REG/REC relay timer" and little red arrows pointing to the obvious, to the dial labeled "delay" and the other "voltage". Basically, all it says is "adjust delay dial cw to decrease relay active time", then of course ccw to increase relay active time, and literally nothing about the voltage dial. Can you help me with this? I mean what relay am I activating for delay time increase or decrease? The other upgrade is a VORTEX X10 CDI. Now like the TRAIL TECH installation sheet, the VORTEX install sheet has it's points of similar vagueness. It has to do with the bullet connecter end grey wire. All it says is; "now plug in the bullet end grey wire". And that's it, all the rest of the installation instructions were complete ie connect this to that, or route this wire from pin "x" to pin "y". So do you think you can help me out with where that grey wire plugs to? Thank you so much for your time efforts and help regarding this matter. Lee
