Modifying the Washer/Dryer Mobile Base

All the way back in 2014, I made a plywood mobile base for my portable twin-tub washer/dryer machine (yes, sadly, I'm still using that toy).
You can watch that video here:
• Mobile Base for a Wash...
I'd been thinking about modifying the base design for a couple of years and, in this video, I got about doing just that; making a mess in my kitchen, as per usual!
Essentially, I wanted a mobile base or trolley that was slightly taller and I realised that a design like this didn't need to be as inefficient with the use of materials.

Nice! I like the way you dealt with the problems at hand, and made it work. Tricky screws got their comeuppance!

Thanks, Steve. I was very surprised that even my impact driver couldn't remove them. Ironically, this unit has been binned since the move as the washing machine I was using died a few days before I handed my old keys back! ;-) But I now have a proper washing machine and, to be honest, it's a lot easier and so much more convenient! Thanks for watching.

We've all been there with the screws that won't budge; so frustrating but so satisfying when you finally succeed :-)

Yes, it's certainly is. Screws go in so easily and we trust them to be reliable. But I didn't really build it to be taken apart either. ;-) Thanks for watching, Maria.

My ex father-in-law, who was a French Polisher, always had a bar of soap available to put some soap on the screw threads. This enabled the screw to be taken out later, if necessary. He trained before WW2!

I have a stick of beeswax that I would normally use for the same purpose. I'm assuming I didn't use it here.

Such great tips. I've never used soap or bees wax on my screws but I'll give it a go now :-)

Yes please... How DO you use that machine?? You have more patience than I, my solution to stuck screws and bolts is just to cut them off and drill new holes. :-)

If I had an angle grinder, I might well have done the same! ;-) Thank you. I'll try to do the video in October.

Well done for being able to work in such a restricted space. It it possible to have another shelf between the casters?

Thank you, Will. It would certainly be possible to fit a shelf in between and may help to brace the unit - not that I think it needs it. I'm not sure what I would put on that shelf. Any thoughts? Thanks for watching, as always.

Having a bad back, I am not fond of shelves that low! I wouldn't be inclined to put anything on it. Lol.

I'm also not a fan of low shelves. Pallets in a workplace are one of my most hated things, as you often have to stoop down so low to pick something up or lay it down.
