Just last year, the guys at Guerrilla Gravity launched a fresh line of bikes featuring an easy-to-convert frame platform and a new material technology called Revved Carbon. Today they're pleased to show the full range of what their system is capable of by introducing the fifth Guerrilla Gravity mountain bike built around a shared front triangle, chainstays, and linkage. Hop onboard with Vital MTB's Product Editor for a closer look and his ride impressions.
Gnarvana Highlights:
- 29-inch wheels
- 160mm (6.3-inches) rear travel // 170mm (6.7-inches) front
- Revved Carbon front triangle with 6061 aluminum rear triangle
- Modular Frame Platform
- Freedom Linkage suspension
- 230x65mm metric shock
- GeoAdjust headset with 10mm of reach/wheelbase adjustment
- Integrated-External cable routing
- Frame Storage System with mounting bracket for tools and tube
- Water bottle mount
- 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket with ISCG05 mount
- 12x148mm Boost rear axle
- SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger
- Various decal color options, black powder coat frame
- Frame weight: 6.5 lbs (2.95kg, with hardware, Size 3, no shock)
- Designed and manufactured in the USA
- Completes start at $3,895 USD
The Gnarvana is ideal for a taller, super proactive rider who enjoys long bikes and wide open trails. It has a point-and-shoot attitude and could care less about what's between points A and B - solid ingredients for a proper enduro race bike. If you'd like something a bit more playful with comparable big hit capability, opt for the 27.5 Megatrail.
While the Gnarvana wouldn't be ideal for many people's everyday ride, Guerrilla Gravity's other models are great for a wide range of rides, and the Modular Frame Platform makes it possible to have a big bike at the ready for minimal cost. By simply swapping the seatstays, rear shock, and fork, you've got a bike that is just raring to go with loads of travel and high-speed stability.

I dig it, I love the looks and would love to try one. I think for their next bike, a freeride bike would be a good idea, with 170 to 180mm rear travel, 27,5 wheels and dual crown fork compatible. Then the range would be complete. Great video!

They are making the carbon frame under a press with high heat and vacuum, this makes it stiffer and more robust. Same technology is used in the car industries for making the body parts.

I mean, that's pretty much how anything carbon is made. It's probably more their material than anything. Narrator mentioned "fiber" placement, as opposed to "ply" placement, so that may be a clue.
@ericbarkhurst2951
@ericbarkhurst2951 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheyForcedMyHandLE Look into it a little more. It is a high heat If I am not mistaken - similar to what very high end aerospace and planes are made of. The Boeing 787 uses the same tech. It is not traditional carbon. Supposed to be a lot tougher.

All the major players' frames are made in Asia. I won't spend >$5K on a bike made in Asia. I'd much rather buy my new ride "Made in The USA" so I'm looking @ a Guerrilla!

Hey @VitalMTB, I'm always hearing a list off of seat tube angles and head tube angles and chain stay lengths. A lot of us, I'm sure, have a tough time organizing lists of numbers in our heads on a sound off. Is there any way you could compile a list/make a video that takes the bikes an every day rider would be on and categorize the numbers in 3 categories (modern, outdated, somewhere in between) for each of the main numbered list off points when referencing geometry. I think this would get a lot of us recognizing what the numbers actually mean. I don't think these numbers are common sense yet. We aren't all bike pedants despite this channel being geared towards them. Anyway, just a small suggestion. Love the channel, One love.

I don't even think about it now, but yeah good point. It took me wrenching in my LBS for a season and spending WAY too much time researching and learning before I had a decent grasp on what all the Geo numbers meant. (Even more difficult to understand/predict how that will translate to feedback on the trail in different combinations!) Bottom line: You can spend hours learning the relative geo numbers and how they compare and it'll help you understand what somebody is talking about or the INTENT of a new bike's design... Still, I've seen bikes with great specs come up surprisingly short when put to the test. There is a lot to be said for the people engineering killer bikes.

So basically it saves them a lot of money in production. Who would actually change their chain stays if they are not broken? Aside from that, cool bike with cool features with the headset adjustment, cable routing, etc.

If I had a 29" wheel laying around I'd drop the $ on a seatstay kit just to see how it feels. (Pretty sure you get a slight discount on the listed $445 if you already own a Revved frame.) I'm riding a mullet MegaSmash build so buying the seatstay kit wouldn't require me getting a new shock either.

Will GG ever be updating to 157mm Super Boost dropouts? Because of their modular design they seem like it would be a consideration and perhaps a retro fit for people that have the current 148mm models

You forgot to mention the many generations of rear triangles that broke and also the horrible clank you hear when landing rear wheel heavy. Be ready for unforseen but forseen issues that come with the bike.

Many generations as in "previous/prototype generations that are no longer in production"? If so, I don't know that it's even worth discussing. (If I'm not misunderstanding you completely) it's similar to discussing how one might expect issues with the 2021 Fox 38 fork because older Fox 36 forks had some issues... Am I off target? Also, not sure what clank you're referring to. I've never heard anything on my GG. It's completely silent. (Onyx hubs and really good cable noise control)

Just one doubt, If they keep the same front triangle for all their bikes, how do they make sure they have great kinematics if they cannot change the shock position in the front triangle?
@vitalmtb
@vitalmtb 4 жыл бұрын
By adjusting the seatstays. You'll note varied rear shock positions for all the bikes.
