I have a megatrail in that same exact color here in Seattle. I feel its a great bike for this area. And I agree with it being super planted... A coil shock adds even more to it. Keep up the great video's

Great to hear and I'll keep making them! Be sure to come up to Bellingham to ride with me! BTW - what size is your GG? I may need to try it!
@rrrodgers896 жыл бұрын
I am on a medium (height: 5'-10") I went a little overboard with it (170 mrp ribbon, push 11-6, magura brakes (mt5) , and I9 wheels).... I feel like I have a problem but I'm ok with it.

Interesting review and cool channel. I've got a Megatrail (coil rear shock) and find it to climb quite well, especially techy, punchy climbs. It's got a super steep STA that keeps me over the cranks and it peddles efficiently. On longer XC oriented climbs is it fast? No, as you said, it's an AM/Enduro oriented bike, but in my opinion it climbs as well or better than anything I've ridden it the same class, and better than many with slacker STA's like the SC Bronson, Yeti's etc. In trail mode it's actually fairly playful especially for being a "big bike", in gravity mode, it's fast and planted.
@DailyMTBRider6 жыл бұрын
I can't disagree with you Yam831 - especially since I only had two days of riding on it. I'd love to try one built up stock and possibly in a size small to see how playful it can be. Thanks for writing and I'm stoked you dig the channel!

Thanks for doing this review. You mentioned this not being an all-rounder. If would be cool to do a follow-up review with a shred dogg conversion. E.g just a short travel shock(an possibly fork) one could have all their bases covered. I have a Smash on order right now. Smash uses the same shock as the Shred dogg. GG will sell just the seat stay so one can convert between the Smash & SD (and megatrail).
@DailyMTBRider6 жыл бұрын
That's what I love about GG - they offer any set up you could want and need. I'd love to review the shred dogg, but there aren't any nearby. Hopefully I can one day soon!

Hey Matt, have you gotten your smash yet? Was thinking about doing the same thing and getting two shocks and a seat stay and have the smash, MT and SD. Between that and the ripmo right now

Looks like a nice bike. At least there are some negatives in this review. I just can't believe every bike is a downhill machine and mountain goat on the climb as well. Most reviews suggest that though.
@DailyMTBRider6 жыл бұрын
I totally hear you man. I'm a firm believer that every bike has pros and cons. This bike does not climb anything like a goat, and anyone who says it does is straight up lying. But, like I said, it's one of the best descenders I've seen. Thanks for stopping by!
@chawkins45ify6 жыл бұрын
My last bike was a megatrail and I always tell people that's the most confident descending bike ive ever ridden, how ever it didn't handle switchback or steep and tech y climbs well. I wanted a bike that was a better all around but didn't sacrifice too much on the downs compared to the GG. I now own a evil wreckoning and love it, especially with the ohlins stx22.
@DailyMTBRider6 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you Colt! And being that I have a Wrecker, I strongly agree they're a little more well rounded. But man, I can't to take a meagtrail to whistler so bad!
@chawkins45ify6 жыл бұрын
Daily MTB Rider I've been tying to sell my megatrail frame with no luck so I'm thinking I may keep it to make a park bike out of it. With a 180 fork and a coil shock it's a monster!
@DailyMTBRider6 жыл бұрын
That would make it one heck of a beast! Also remember, spring and early summer are a great time to sell because a lot of people are looking to upgrade
@chawkins45ify6 жыл бұрын
How did this bike climb compared to your wreckoning? I have a wrecker now and I'm tempted to get another MT (I had 1st gen). Mine sucked at climbing and was way too low but it looks like they've addressed most issues.

This bike was quite interesting to me, but I am sceptical about the FSA headset, I crushed FSA bearings in few weeks of riding. I guess I am a speed demon, but also a climb demon. my bike is quite flickable and quite nice downhill, but steering is not great if set up to fit me, so So longer slacker seems like a good idea for me, but of course, this can be overdone. that shop looks well organized. I see the frame has double jointed pivots, with bearings being secured on both sides, so they won't dislocate with heavy shredding, on my fuel ex they dislocate, So I recommend to stay away from Trek full suspension bikes, cus they are junk. This frame is clearly better than my Fuel ex, which is a pain in the ass. my search for the ultimate bike has gone away from the more usual well-known brands, for the msot part giant and trek seems to be very popular, btu htey got their flaws.
@DailyMTBRider6 жыл бұрын
Great points and if you're looking for strength and durability, I'd say look at Guerrilla Gravity, Kona, and Transition. Just my thoughts, thanks for commenting Johannes!
@mtbboy19936 жыл бұрын
I have seen some nasty bent Kona bikes, but that was a long time ago, but I see that a lot think all Kona's will break or bend, But I have not researched Kona bikes a lot, but their previous Proscess suspension platform sounded like a bad idea, but not see any reviews on the new bike yet. just because their bikes were not that great I the past does not mean they are now, completely different designs, probably engineers too.
@mtbboy19936 жыл бұрын
Kona definitely looks like it's better than the trek frames.
@mtbboy19936 жыл бұрын
Shame Kona onyl offers complete bikes, and don't offer frames only.
