Gnarvana. No, that's not the name of a bad '90s cover band - it's what Guerrilla Gravity are calling their new long travel 29er. Kaz gives us the rundown of all the specs from this made-in-Colorado frame.

I think "Gnarvana" is one of the coolest model names! This may be my next bike. I'm looking to get an enduro bike. I love that it's made in my home state of Colorado!

I currently have a Smash with a 170 fork and debating swapping to a Gnarvana rear end. Love the modular system, love the brand, love the bike overall. 145 rear does struggle a bit riding trestle bike park and such so just going back and forth on climbing vs bike park ability.

Noob question - why are coil rear shocks loved for their sensitivity and feel, but coil forks are generally cheap pieces of crap? Do coils only feel good with larger sized coils than forks can accomodate?
@claytonp1111
@claytonp1111 4 жыл бұрын
There are some great coil forks/ fork conversions. The only problem is the weight. I think PUSH and Vorsprung both have kits that can convert an air fork to coil. There are also some bombproof older coil forks but they weigh a ton
@justsayin3600
@justsayin3600 4 жыл бұрын
I get the differences ( just do some read up) but I got to have tunability for different terrain. They are starting to make the coils more tunable. Maintenance is key on coil, like...none.
@artysa.blackwood4261
@artysa.blackwood4261 3 жыл бұрын
In the frame you can twik the progressivity of the coil shock via lgeometry (linkage designs), in the fork you cant (well, you actually can but you need progressive springs, or 2 different springs, or a hydraulic bottom out in the damper)

Can some one tell me why these mountain bikes with full suspension cost more than some motorcycles???
@dantribby199
@dantribby199 4 жыл бұрын
I know it's a tough thing to fathom. I thought the same. Guerilla Gravity uses a machine to layup parts thier frames, but most carbon frames are layed up by hand, so #1 is labor cost. #2 is Research and development. A full suspension bike requires alot of study and trial to get the desired result. Suspension kinematics, leverage ratios, tube thicknesses(effect ride quality), reach measurements by size, head and seat tube angles, bottom bracket height, stack, the list goes on and on. #3 Durability and reliability: An expensive bike will shift, brake, and ride better than a less expensive one. Components are reliable for thousands of miles. They can take the rigors mountain biking can dish out. It can be a hard pill to swallow when you walk in a shop or look at bikes online, but they are definitely worth it in the long run if you intend to do any serious biking.
@burton926
@burton926 4 жыл бұрын
I agree with Daniel Tribby, but also want to point out weight. When you have motor, components are weighed in pounds, not grams. Componentry price goes up exponentially while the weight reaches an asymptotic lower limit. This true of motorcycles too, and they have to do R&D to make sure they make a reliable product as well, but there's a lot more wiggle room when you're running 90hp through a three cylinder engine. Sure, a motorcycle is a more complicated machine, but each component is simpler and heavier (ie cheaper) than the mountain bike counterpart. That adds up very quickly.

Great bike , rides smooth kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing
