Thank you fort the template! This thing was quite the challenge, since I don't have the neopreme (had some wood glue) and half of my paints were dry, the thick foam was hard and the slim was floppy :D. So I'll have to do it again soon. The outcome became quite excitnig, so I'm happy. 😊
@ModulusProps10 ай бұрын
That's great! You can definitely use other materials instead of neoprene. I've seen people use white glue, wood glue, roof sealer, Mod Podge, or even just thick acrylic paint. They all work!
@MrTeaboar10 ай бұрын
This technique is quite amazing to be honest. I'm planning to make a video for some texture stuff on cosplay an this will be in there for sure. :) @@ModulusProps

Top work, looks fantastic. However, doesn’t the crest seem to be a bit too short? I thought they were a bit taller and sat a little bit farther forward
@ModulusProps4 жыл бұрын
No, not on the 1/4 scale collectible version produced by Weta, the same company that designed the helmets for the film. My pattern matches that one very closely.

I love this! Giving it a go atm as my first ever! I can't find creature cast in the UK does anyone know of an alternative?
@pocketmarrow5 жыл бұрын
Really incredible work! The cotton batting's such a clever idea and the final finish is incredibly convincing. Did you give it any final seal to protect the paint job? Or would that dull the effect?
@ModulusProps5 жыл бұрын
The helmet is not sealed. I usually try to avoid a final sealer if I can, because it can take depth out of the paint job when using a mix of glossy and flat colors.

@crushcity30345 жыл бұрын
Amazing. Cotton technique blew my mind. Any idea what the total cost of this project would be?
@ModulusProps5 жыл бұрын
Good question. Using the same materials as I did, it would be about $75 total for a couple sheets of foam, a pint of neoprene, some cotton batting, and a few bottles of acrylic paint -- and you'd have a bunch of material left over for more projects. For a more economical way, I think you could keep it around $25 if you use low-cost foam floor mats, a bag of cotton balls, Mod Podge instead of neoprene, and some basic craft acrylics.
@crushcity30345 жыл бұрын
@@ModulusProps awesome thank you very much. I'd love to attempt both and see how different they would turn out.
@LisztV11 ай бұрын
Great work! But how rigid does it get? From the video, it looks rigid like thick plastic, not like foam (which is great)
@ModulusProps11 ай бұрын
Thanks! The coating makes the foam a bit stiffer, but it still has some flexibility
