@@TristanMaker what kind of store did you buy the eva foam?

Is there a way to carve out foam for the stick without a machine?
@TristanMaker2 жыл бұрын
You could try to make a V channel in the foam using an exacto knife.

Well done man. From the awesome Prop and paint job to your no nonsense to the point video editing. So that awesome texture was achieved just with the Flex Seal ?
@TristanMaker4 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! Yes the texture is just the flex seal. But the deep cuts were acheived with the rotary tool.
@davesykes19664 жыл бұрын
@@TristanMaker Thanks. I've seen people use cotton fibers from cotton balls applied with watered down glue to achieve a nice corroded texture. You sound Canadian. So Hi from a fellow Maker and Canuck from Quebec City.
@TristanMaker4 жыл бұрын
Yes I've seen people use that technique, I'd like to try it someday. And yes I'm from Montreal! Nice to know I have viewers from Quebec! :)

Would you happen to have templates for this sword?
@TristanMaker9 ай бұрын
Unfortunately no. But it's such a simple shape that I'm sure you would be able to trace it yourself on paper to build one :)

do you know anything about how eva foam compares to insulation foam for making weapons? is one better than the other?
@TristanMaker4 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the big 2" thick foam boards, they work great, especially for bigger weapons. I made astrid's axe from how to train your dragon in a past video using insulation foam. It's a bit lighter than eva foam, but can get dented more easily. If you're gonna carry it all day in a convention, insulation foam might be better. If you want a more detailed and more solid prop, eva foam is better.

Unfortunately no. They are simply not soft enough.

Another way to make fake leather is to cover cardboard in ducktape and bash it about a lot. It really looks like learher 👍
