Kirk, thanks for the video. As an alumni of one of your schools I can attest to the simplicity of Setup4Impact and the improvement it can bring to your golf game. I went from shooting in the 100+ category to the low 90s in my first year at 70+ years old! My original goal was to break 90 but with the constant steady improvement I am getting with Setup4Impact I am now working towards breaking 80, got close a couple times but not yet so there is still work to be done. Golf is so much more enjoyable when you’re scoring better and thanks to Setup4Impact I am enjoying golf so much more

You are absolutely correct, I’m 67 and I’m playing a lot better with this swing, my only change I switched from strong to neutral grip.

Hi Kirk, new subscriber here, I’m in my mid 50s and started golf a few months ago. I was having difficulty with consistent ball contact and your videos have helped me tremendously. I really appreciate your calm and sensible approach, thank-you! 😊

Great admirer of Moe's. But your method has always worked best for me.

I started tinkering with a single-plane swing based on the Moe concept a few years ago... I started using Kirk's simple method about a year later... I had a lesson with Kirk this past summer and he really helped taking my swing to another level. He gave me just a few things to work on. Now that I have worked on those things and used Bob Rotella's concepts of "playing with the unconscious mind" I'm playing the best golf of my life. Still need a bit of work on short game which I am working on... but playing some good and ENJOYABLE golf.

Hahaha…Not working? I wasted so much time and money trying to copy Moe, that it is almost tragic. My swing even looked like Moe’s, yet I hit the ball 50 yards shorter than before, and less accurately. Thanks to you I now know why. You hit the nail right on the head with the distance from the ball issue. Standing closer and modifying my grip as you instructed fixed me almost instantly. I am forever in your debt!!!

Glad you saw the light. It is amazing how fast people can improve with a few simple changes away from copying Moe. I wish I had seen the light much quicker myself. Playing better now than ever before as are a great many of my clients!!

Thanks for this video. Keep it simple. Find your own swing. Words of wisdom. Not a criticism, but wondering why it took you so long trying emulate Mo's swing when it didnt work for you. I had the same problem with my tennis swing and the concept of swinging low to high (which is not really even taught anymore) which lead to very weak inconsistent shots (lots of mishits, especially on hard high shots) as well as being very hard on my shoulder. I am still trying to work out my golf swing as I am experimenting a fair bit. It is a tough game to master. Guess that is part of the appeal

I am a slowwww learner. lol...I actually quit playing tournament golf shortly after switching to Moe's swing because I was no longer good enough. So I taught for many years and did pretty well as I customized the swing to fit for most people. Then when I went to teach Moe's exact swing again with people who teach his swing I saw first hand how poor the results were for most people. It convinced me that the approach just will not work well for many people in my opinion. Happy now to be playing the best golf of my life.

I’m a beginner golfer in Australia, I’m quite keen to lessons from set up for impact, my only reservation is, with an online based learning program, how can the instructor access impact problems without seeing the ball flight?
@Setup4Impact3 ай бұрын
Hi Alex, I can see a lot on video, and you also help by letting me know what is happening. If you learn to do the drills properly which I help you with through video reviews, then we will also be able to customize the setup so the balls fly straight.

The main reason most people can't handle Moe's way of swinging is because unlike you, as a youngster he had a violent thrust. He wasn't that smooth at all kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJe0f6ZnZb92rNE On the bent knee at impact I still mix Moe's way with your smoothness. Moe never had a knee problem. I've been swinging this way since '95 and never had a problem, and This guy here also never had a knee nor back problems before he passed kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5ycmIt9fJJkZsU (swing starts at 4min 10sec) I'm not trying by any means to go against your teachings as I respect your method which part of it I use (before you were even on KZbin) and will always recommend it even more times than I'd recommend the Graves's 'cause I don't really need a real wide stance...yet. It's just that I believe the shear caused to the forward knee joint by straightening AT IMPACT, it's what creates big knee trouble in the PGA standardized swing regarding the list of players who mechanize this way. I've got nothing against straightening the leg AFTER IMPACT, when the torquing forces have already past the swivel knee archway. I haven't lost distance since I reached my normal limits (except when 3 year ago I went on a quest to reach over 350y, then I stopped) to use my short irons and at times still some wedges for my second shot onto the green on short par 4s hitting from the tips all the time. Whenever I can't reach them no more in regulation, I'll start hitting frae one box down, I reckon Cheers Kirk!

Great explanation. I've been applying the Todd Graves M.N. swing and I tend to feel stress forces and pain in my left knee at impact, when I reach farther. If I narrow my stance a bit and not reach too far my knees and back seem to experience less strain and pain.

After many years of attempting to develop Moe's swing as various videos demonstrate, with some reasonable success, a slight adjustment has been made to my setup. I now swing the club as Moe promoted in his later years. I hit it straighter and further with less effort. At age 67 my entire focus after major health issues, was to get to the bottom of this mystery of Moe! I seldom play, I just want to know that if I did play more, my game would stand the test. It has been fun and I owe my enjoyment of the venture to Moe.

I think in your hurry to defend the Moe Norman/Little Moe swing methodology you missed the key point in Kirk‘s video. The swing he teaches is a single plane swing which has very little in common with the Moe Norman swing. To the casual observer there appear to be similarities, but they pretty much stop at hitting a golf ball. To explain that he has to compare and contrast the differences. That is when you see his Setup4Impact, due to its simplicity, takes less time to learn. Additionally, when compared to the Moe swing, Setup4Impact can be customized in ways the Moe’s swing cannot. These are the points of the video. Even Moe said everything about his swing is done to remove variables and he pounded hundreds of balls a day, sometimes till his hands bled, to achieve that precision. Mr Graves has proven Moe can be copied, but he too dedicated his life to doing so for years. Kirk’s point seems to be that if you are struggling with that swing he can help and teach you how to get the kind of results you are looking for and quickly get to playing the best golf of your life. I know this to be true because it works for me
@robertnunn20933 ай бұрын
Hitting with a bent left knee puts WAY more stress on the knees than straightening it ever would. Try turning toward the target quickly with a bent leg, and then let it straighten. You should feel a big difference. If you did Moe’s swing as taught you would have to lose distance. You are likely not following the foolish right foot flat until the finish craziness that is being promoted. If you did you would lost a ton of distance like I did. How come so many on here hit it farther than the pga tour players?
@Setup4Impact3 ай бұрын
Nobody really knows if Moe ever had knee problems. He was very strong though, and fun to watch. I did have a client who attended a 5-day golf school where they taught that the left knee was to remain bent, and the right foot flat through impact. He needed knee surgery after the school and his doctor told him that it was due to that concept. Keep it simple and do what works best for you. Moe told me years ago "Swing like you, not like me". Wish I had listened sooner.

Hi Kirk. In my opinion, instead of saying what in your opinion is wrong with the teaching of others, you should focus on your own ideas, which I think are very valuable in themselves, without the need to argue them against others. For that you should do the same as T. Graves does, and that honors him, share for free on youtube, practically everything he teaches. Best regards and thanks.
@Setup4Impact3 ай бұрын
I never said anything about Graves. If you listen to the video you would see that it was meant for those who are not improving trying to swing like Moe. It is my opinion that there are thousands of frustrated golfers out there who tried and failed at swinging like Moe. I am here to help them improve.
@lawrencecirillo32333 ай бұрын
I agree with Kirk that he did not say that as well. There are more people than the Graves brothers who teach a single plane swing. Thanks Kirk, for your willingness to share your ideas.
@robertnunn20933 ай бұрын
He never even mentioned those guys even though he should as they have ruined more golfers than anyone on the internet with their flawed concept. Copying Moe ruined my game for a LONG time, and Kirk saved me!!
