Moen 26008 Magnetix Shower Head 2-in-1 Combo Magnetic Chrome Review

Today, got Moen's shower head rubber washer. Installed and it keeps the shower had in position. Removed the water flow restricter. Tested and the water flow is much stronger. Not sure which version I will keep. I have seen some posts, customers actually not removing the water saving device but making more holes in the plastic water saver until they get desired water flow. The restricter is a 3 piece set (rubber washer/flat piece of plastic and restricter with holes) located at the entrance side of the ball joint. Takes a bit force to get it out.

The only issue I’ve encountered is where when I turn the main head to the left or right a little too much water sprays out at the connection to the water supply

I had it installed a couple of weeks ago. It looks very nice. The water flow was extremely soft! I had to stay in the shower longer so the purpose of water conservation was totally defeated. However, this morning I removed the water control valve and now it's great.

@Nicole Bezemes I just removed the restricter in this very model. There is a metal connector with a ball joint, the part you screw onto the pipe coming out of the wall. You take a screwdriver or something relatively thin, stick it through the hole in the ball part, and push hard. The restricter will come out the open end (where water first enters from the pipe). Haven't found it, but in the upper part (above the joint) there's something that looks like an inlet, but haven't been able to remove. But maybe it's just scaled and I have to push harder from below (you can push through the joint with a screw-driver), but I didn't want to brake it.

Just installed my Moen engage with magnetix after being sketched out Fortunately, without any adjustments, the water pressure is much more acceptable than this video indicates. The button on the wand turns it on and off

Nope ... still not working ... but I don't need it. I've some kind of old plumbing and I don't like to much pressure on these old pipes anyway - hence I use the main handle to turn on / off.

Problems with the switch on the hand held shower should be reported to Moen. They will replace the unit. If there are enough complaints they will refer the problem back to their proper design people.

Thanks for the positive feedback. You won't believe it ... I kept pressing at the button every week or so, but nothing happened ... but about 2 months ago it finally started working and since then it works fine ... absolutely mysterious ... but to be honest ... there was never a really great need to have this button ;-)

The on/off switch on the hand held shower head does not last very long before it stops working. The review on the YOU TUBE video shows this exact problem (not working). Except for this the overall dual heads work fine and installation was easy.

Thanks for the feedback. Surprisingly in my case the switch didn't work for many weeks or even months ... but now ... after almost half a year of usage I tried again an it's working now ... what a surprise ... maybe the question is only ... for how long ... ;-)

Sounds like Moen should do what many other manufacturers do and build the "pause" function into the selector dial at one end of the spray options, which should never fail.

Kind of shoddy shower head. You'd have to shower twice as long with that meager flow. Thanks for showing how poorly this performs.

It's not that bad. We have two women in our household with long hair and they like it. Could be little bit more water, but it's really ok.

@@allcheckout There are two versions now as well; 26008 is 1.75 gpm, 26009 is 2.5 gpm.

Total Fail Moen! Saw this at Home Depot and just installed it. The handheld sprayer just flops off. Seems to be a couple design flaws one being the weak magnet the other is the groove on the handheld showerhead is too narrow for the "hook" "notch" whatever you want to call it, to fit in to. I also looked up reviews on other sites and seems to be a common problem. One person stated that it fell off and slammed into their glass door so potential for shattering glass Moen. Seriously fix this it's so lame to have a company design and build something that works then when put into production cost cuts cause failing design changes!

Installed this model and its a overpriced piece of junk,it leaked from both shower heads and less then 8 hours the hose failed leaked from the sheathing after 2 uses.Moen quality has taken a nose dive for sure.
