Thank you 😊. My husband is not motivated to try plumbing. I am tired of paying for a plumber. I’ve already fixed my leaking kitchen faucet. On to my shaking shower. Thanks for the great video.

Thank you. New tip using the Channel Lock handle in the pipe. Nice. Same w wrapping on the Teflon tape. I like using 1 1/2in cabinet screws on the brass fitting in the wall. They are rated for treated lumber and outside use so less opportunity for corrosion and the washer head seems a nice feature. I use 3 or 3 1/2 inch #9 torx-head deck screws for the cut-down block. Never had one break and I've installed 100s of them. I was curious about the plywood installation at first. Better too much than a call-back. Thank you for posting and for continuing to use no background soundtrack. Blessings to you and yours. Handy people will always be in demand, especially when they show up and do the job right the first time.

Just put in walk in shower. A few months ago. I put the old one in 92. I ran all copper. Only thing in my house that did not have valves in basement????? LOL. You know what took place when they cut the old one shower out...... LOL. Getting old is no fun.... Never was a fan of PVC or Pex . Over 40 years in trade. Plumber and Pipefitter. I had to get help for the new install. Good thing was the Plumber I called was one of my apprentices that runs their own company... Got cut offs and some Pex now. But I know who to call... Take Care. Found Ye on the Stoney Ridge page.....

That is awesome! Thank you Alvin. We all need help at times. The video I am putting out Saturday is for another plumber that could not get under his motor home sink to change it out. My body also tells me all the time it is older than I’m supposed to be. So wonderful that you could connect with an apprentice of yours. I really like that. Thanks again Brian.

the pipe fitters at work liked to use teflon string and pipe dope when they did a fitting that absolutely couldn't leak I put all kinds of blocking in my bathroom with the same screws you are using i just put them in diagonally like kreg jigs do just drilling by hand with the recessed wood screw bit like that you can even do the plywood that way no blocks needed

I don’t ever want to worry about a shower head leaking in the wall. To me this gives me a piece of mind. Right on Greg I say the more blocking the better! Make it sturdy.

I never use Teflon when there's a gasket but yes in that situation because it'll actually hold it since it moves so much

I love your videos. They are wonderful. They helped me to change the shut off valve and water lines under my kitchen sink to get ready for dishwasher that went in yesterday. Not only that, they found a bad outlet behind the dishwasher that was starting to burn. I could’ve had a house fire! The weird thing is I thought that my dishwasher had a problem because I smelled a bit of a burn smell when I would run it. I had the electrical and the panel replaced about three years ago, so I never thought they forgot an outlet! Now I’m going to check all the outlets. Next job is replacing the plumbing under my bathroom sink. Your videos are awesome!

Smear lipstick or grease on the back of the piece and press it against the wood where you want it, then you will have an imprint of the shape!

That is a great Idea. Thank you

You absolutely need to use Teflon tape on a shower neck. Or pipe dope. If you don’t it will most likely leak. The Teflon acts as a lubricant to get the threads in far enough. I’ve had to replace all the drywall in a customers closet, 3 to 4 feet high because her neighbor installed hers without using tape or dope. It was a huge leak

Can you use a large shower arm plate affixed to the tile to reduce wiggling?
@FredD632 жыл бұрын
Glue the wood behind shower head to stud and also use a metal shower head not the big box store plastic stuff
@ThatFixItGuy2 жыл бұрын
I did not think of gluing the wood! I like your style. I like metal shower heads as well, but man they are getting pricey. You can get metal ones off Amazon, but almost the same quality and they never want to seal! Thank you for your comments.

Will the Megalock make it difficult to remove the arm if the owner decides to move it up higher?
@ThatFixItGuy2 жыл бұрын
Not at all. Megalock is great that way. Does not get real hard like other pipe dopes.

Without opening up the wall I mean. Especially if you put some type of fins clamped down to the pipe.

I was screwing my new one back on very carefully and the sheetrock it was mounted through fell into dust, now I have a hole I could almost stick me head through 😂 theres a stud about 4 inches to the right. I suppose I'm going to mount a piece of plywood to it and mount it to that.

What sort of BS is this video!!! I'm sure that 95% of shower heads are attached to an external wall, so it is not a simple matter of popping to the room next door and fixing from the other side dude!!!
