Thanks for the great video. I'm still in-progress on mine. I needed the 90 deg street fitting on both sides then connected Hot/cold with SharkBites. Turned water pressure on and very..very small leakage at 90 deg connection with the Valve. None of the SharkBites show leakage (so far). Question- When I screwed the 90's on each side connection to valve.. when they tightened they were not facing straight down.... so I had to back them off about 1/4 turn . Thus..the leakage. Would adding a few more wraps of Teflon tape or Pipe Thread dope help this? If I tried to turn them another complete revolution I'm afraid I might crack the very expensive valve connections! Thanks to any advice from anyone...even if I've found a solution before the answer..It may help someone else.

@DaddyDawg thanks for the question. This is a good one. First of all, I'm glad that you liked my video. It is a little older, but not a bad one and recently I went back and added chapters to it. So I'm also glad that you watched it with the chapters. Ok 2 things here. First is your question. And the answer is yes, if you feel like one more full turn is too much, then go back and add more tape. And are you using the cheap white tape or do you have a better one. I know that everyone is used to the cheap white tape, but there are better alternatives. This is a good one. www.amazon.com/Pack-Milrose-70885-Monster-Teflon/dp/B00IJZBB1A?crid=3G05LEZJB1EC7&keywords=tephlon+tape&qid=1642280876&sprefix=teph%2Caps%2C108&sr=8-6&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=f8c4ebb47d8ba588b8beb29d70979fc7&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl Then the second thing. I love Shark Bites and have a couple of videos of them. But the one thing that I don't like is putting them in a place that you can't access. So, I hope that you have an access panel for this shower. The reason I say that is because the Shark Bite uses an "O" ring, and I feel that they will start to fail in about 10 years. Good luck on your project! 👍 So glad to help! Thank you for watching. We're doing this install now and I'm looking for help with how tight the inlet pipe for the shower head should be. It seems too loose in the position where it needs to be. But it can't be tightened another full turn. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn the female end, either. Tape and plumbers glue dont seem like enough either. Yikes.
@AroundTheHome12 жыл бұрын
@Margaret Grigsby, thanks for watching and your comment. I want to help, but I need clarification on a couple of things. You say that you are doing this install right now. And that the inlet pipe for the shower head isn't tight enough. First I want to confirm that this is the pipe that you are talking about. amzn.to/3NZGp0A And if it is then you say that the female end won't turn either. If that is the pipe in question, is your female end not screwed to a stud or cross support?

As a rule of thumb it's never a good idea to connect dis-similar metals so as to avoid electrolysis. Not just in plumbing but in any circumstance... just sayin'😉

If you didn't want it to fail, you should have installed a brass street 90 instead of the galvanized street 90. Voice of experience here.

What about the 2 screws into the plate? When I inserted , the screws hampered the handle from turning smoothly.
@AroundTheHome12 жыл бұрын
I'm only guessing here because I'm not there to see it, but my first guess is that the faucet isn't square with the handle and plate. Sounds like when you tighten the screws it is binding. The faucet coming out of the wall should be 90 degrees to the wall. Does that help at all?
@juliegarthwaiteclark1683 жыл бұрын
what about the water spout part of the faucet kit. ?? You just did the handle and the shower head.

Yes, this install was a shower only. So I showed how to cap it off for a shower only install. Here is a video where I install a delta faucet that might help you with that part. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX3ZoHmpepiBhpI

I have a Moen Ashville shower head and handle and it recently became very tight to turn. Is this an easy fix, or should I seek professional help?
@AroundTheHome16 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the cartridge is failing. The Moen cartridges are sometimes a bit hard to get out. They make special plumbing tools just for that. Sorry that I don't have a video on that for you. You might look up replacing a Moen shower cartridge on KZbin if you feel pretty good about your plumbing skills, of just call a plumber to do some basic repairs. Thanks for watching. Very nice job. Looks easy to do. What size are those compression fttings you used?
@AroundTheHome14 жыл бұрын
Just 1/2" compression to 1/2" threaded adapter. If you have an accessible area where you can splice in the water line like a crawl space, just using a sharkbite is much simpler. Thanks for watching and don't forget to stop by our website for many more helpful videos. www.greatwhiteninja.com

That one actually has me stumped at the moment. Normally the problem with these Moens is the hot and cold water are reversed. So, no water is coming out of either the shower head nor the tub spout?

I watched the video and realized I did not pull up the video I need. I am trying to remove flow restrictor from Moen Ashville shower head, Any guidance is appreciated!
@AroundTheHome15 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, I am not familiar with that shower head. If there is a flow restrictor in the shower head, it should be right at the opening where it connects to the pipe. Do you live in CA? They have additional laws which force manufacturers to add additional restrictors to their products that I would never see out here in the Mid-West. Thanks for watching. to bad I didn't have you to do the job when I put the shower and faucet in, the pipes in the wall are backwards, the hot to the right, cold to the left, and I can't adjust the temp the handles upside down, and middle is off, right is scalding hot, the left is freezing cold middle is off, so no adjust the water to warm, I'm MAD that I'm dealing with this, Mr pro who fixed faucets for a living didn't know shit, you get what you pay for like a flooded kitchen floor on Christmas day, and having to replace the the whole floor, let alone the shower. I bet where mine say's up, it's upside down, because mr know's it all knew better than MOEN themselves. It's all jacked.
