Thumbs up for a nice walk through. Great choice of harsh shadow for drama. I would have liked some more about the strobe in the title which is what made me watch.

This was awesome! Thanks. I like the tip about changing the blend mode on each layer to LIGHTEN, then painting in the bits from each layer. Brilliant mates!

Question: Do you ever adjust the power of your strobe for each placement. Or is it easier to adjust that in post with masking blend modes etc ? Thanks for posting this video👍

i’m shooting a car … just curious how high the iso is here ?? …. it’s nice to have car surrounded with white … the shot will be 5ft x 10ft so i want to minimize the grain. i’m at iso 100 f16 and it’s a matte black car … 😩😩😩Thanks for sharing video and answering comments with questions …

Moe Zainal please man make a video about static video photoshoot! So basically I have this idea: I've got red Kia Pro Ceed first generation with nice black rims and stripe, I want to make a 40 seconds instragram music video with different shots at various locations, mainly forests, lakes and rivers during sunset or sunrise. I've got intuition for scenery and car positions, however main issue is how do you move the camera gradually and create this floating effect, sort of horizontal sliding around front and side of the car. I have a smartphone with a good camera and no intentions to invest in any filming equipment. P.S. Would be nice if you give more advice for smartphone photography and budget photoshoots in general.

I have been watching your videos for a while Moe, but haven't commented yet. You have a fantastic channel full of interesting content and it has helped bring back my passion for automotive photography several times after shooting the same old photos for work (dealership inventory). I look forward to seeing more content and supporting your channel. Cheers from Australia!

Have you controlled with remote controls or by pressing on the camera? what kind of tripod did you use ?
@MoeZainal
@MoeZainal Жыл бұрын
We usually prefer using a remote control to avoid moving the camera. The Sony camera system comes with an app to control the camera. Pretty sure other brands have that, I think.

Moe great video. I plan to shot a McLaren soon and this was one shot in almost the same type of space I needed to think of. Thanks for this Thom as well, great tips. Wonderful work. Moe you got me using strobes again. Lol. I'll say honestly, I didn't feel comfortable of what I was doing in the past with stobing. Felt like too much to do and I wasn't getting the results needed. So I stuck to natural light and light painting but I totally understand using strobes after watching a few of your videos so its now something I want to do more of now.

you can always experiment - do it once twice three times or a zillion times until you get it right. :) practice makes perfect.

Do you need that godox strobe light? Or can you use a solid light source and move it around to each shot?

When you cut out the car, to make it easier to paint without hitting the surroundings... How do I do that? I mean... when I add the next image with some light I want.. I have to cut out the car 20 times if I have 20 expos of the car?
@MoeZainal
@MoeZainal 6 жыл бұрын
You can create a selection using the pen tool for example, on the same selection you could press M then right click on the selection > save selection, once saved you can always retrieve the selection by pressing M then right click > load selection. that is one way of doing it, the other way is to use the pen tool to create a selection then copy the selection on a separate layer (reference layer), this way you could always Command + Click on that layer to bring up the selection, hope this helps.

if the base exposure is at 0.5seconds at f/11, then why do all the strobe shots at 1/200? why do they need to be that dark?
@MoeZainal
@MoeZainal 6 жыл бұрын
I do that too, it helps with two things 1- you don't get ambient exposure leaking in the frame 2- it helps by seeing how the light is shaping up the different areas of the car

Please don't seek for excuses on using orange and teal it is so obvious and don't try to hide it nor explain. Show us the logo mentioned, and photograph the car with colour checker board and show us that image, then you can say look here is orange and here is blue white and logo is teal.
