A bit of sponge padding on the stooge wouldn’t go amiss. It saves the longerons. That F1B winder is the best. I have the same by Blazowich, a bit cheaper. I don’t know if they are still available. Having a high pylon complicates matters unnecessarily. I don’t fly huge models very often. I’m too mean to buy so much rubber! BMK does exellent rdt and trackers. I wish I had your property to fly on. Great honest video. I buy my prop units here in England from Spencer Willis. None better. My favourite rubber model is the “Last Resort”, a classic design. We don’t fly Mulvihill here. Open rubber models are restricted to 50g of rubber. Up front I use a reverse S prop shaft with a Tim White connector for the rubber. I usually braid to stop bunching. You need to grow a patch of long grass for test gliding with a sub fin 😀😀😀 Again a great video..
@joshuawfinn Жыл бұрын
Yeah I couldn't find my foam padding the day we filmed this. 50g of rubber...frankly doesn't sound that fun anymore. We use at least that much on Moffetts and more than double in Mulvihill. Just makes for a more majestic airplane and fewer blown motors.

Great filming on yours with the big sun going - just great job with that. I'm going to be a bit unfair and declare the Wifie's the winner in the stable flight competition. That's a big wrap wad of rubber band, I've never used more than one loop. HAHAHA , amateur.

In competition I usually install a nondirectional beacon. Adds 1.5g and has an extremely long range.

HA HA HA... i recognized the Pause at 3:23 as a father and a KZbinr.. naughty kids before the pause, nice kids with sad faces and hands by their sides after.. i have a video with it is the same kind of thing.. My kids were being so bad and out of control they bumped the camera and the microphone before i paused. Then were no longer in the room after.
@joshuawfinn Жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, I actually paused it because I saw some impending crisis with the plane that required both hands. Unfortunately I have zero recollection of what it was. All that said, the scenario you describe is absolutely present in a fair number of our videos. 😂

@@tomcook5813 if you build a serious performance machine, you'll find yourself in need of a DT. These big endurance planes are really easy to fly. Try a P-30 sometime...you'll be shocked at the performance.

Is there some reason (other than coincidence) that MUCH of the leading edge aeromodeling stuff comes from Ukraine? Not just in FF but in RC and CL too.
@joshuawfinn Жыл бұрын
The USSR concentrated much of its advanced aviation development there. The Ukrainian workers honed their skills on models, encouraged by politicians eager to get a leg up on those evil westerners (just like in the Olympics) and pushed very hard for record setting performances (many endurance, speed, and altitude records were set and still stand from the Ukrainian plains). We of course offered substantial rewards to those who wished to leave and that got us great engineers like Alex Andriukov.

It is the dethermalizer. (DeThermalizer). It tilts up the tailplane, and totally stalls the wing, so the model comes down. It is a bit like a de-neuralyzer, but for models.

I actually like this plane, but for the effort and reward of free-flight would it not make sense to make this plane into an rc model. If a dt system could be installed couldn't micro rc?

Nothing preventing you from doing that; it does work quite well if you use good light servos.

CG is a parameter that you set and don't move. Incidence and thrustline are the adjustments. Also dethermalizers are intentional. Deep stall is the only safe way to get the plane down.
