At age 77 and after a surgery for a serious illness, this ramen stall keeper looks younger to me than the first man who said he has been eating at this stall for 40 years since age 6. Maybe the secret to longevity and looking younger than your age is to work hard and enjoy what you do. I wish him many more years of happily making ramen for his customers.

Within walking distance from my house, we used to have a curry noodle stall manned by one very old lady and her daughter. The business was unbelievable and people queued and waited 2 hours just to eat the noodle. It was closed several years ago when the lady passed away. The son tried to take over but gone bust within 2 months. I am really happy for the old man. He cut down his workload but continue to serve his community. I wished him good health for years to come.

Stalls like this with an immense patronage from generations should be preserved by having someone (probably from his children or lineage) to inherit the recipes & techniques by the Ramen Master. Once he passes away, the magic will be gone. I think Japan has a problem with preserving businesses such as restaurants and their likes because the younger generation after them would usually prefer another work rather than preserving a work that they can pass onto.

When I tell you all I did was smile this whole video.....this man deserves all the honor he can get. When people have been waiting for him to reopen to how long this precious elder has been in business, and even the work he puts into making his broth (myself and the videographer both said the same thing after he said 8 hours, but in our own languages lol), you can tell from him getting bored at home to not being fully healed that he enjoys his profession. And to see those you've know as babies? Lol, I know that feeling!!! 😁 I commend you sir, and hope I may try some ramen from you one day. If you don't mind, I have adopted you as my precious Japanese grandfather😇.
