@Sana Khan No, this verse is not about women literally being violent. This verse is about men FEARING 'rebellion/ill-conduct'. FEARING. No mention of actual violence, or actual bad behaviour. Just a mere SUSPICION. Allah is giving men permission to beat their wives based on mere FEARS. According to this verse, a bit of irrational jealousy justifies his beating his wife, an inkling she might not be praying on time is reason enough to beat her, his thinking she must be lazing about instead of bringing him his tea on time is enough to beat her, etc etc. Read what the Quran says, not what you think and hope it says.

How lovely that they always skip over the word "If you FEAR". How on earth is that rational? Acting on mere fear? The examples Hijab gives have nothing to do with feared scenarios, but with actually occurring situations. And why is 'nushuz' translated as 'rebellion' when it applies to women, but not when it refers to men (4:128)? Could it be that there's just a bit of bias there?
@BallRun-sf2ju2 жыл бұрын
No it DOES NOT mean separate. The word ضربوهن (pronounced darabuhuna) literally translates to beat them, and is derived from the word ضرباً (darbaan) which means to hit or to beat. The verse is clearly telling men they can beat their wives if they fear rebellion. This is so clear to anyone who speaks Arabic. It is literally as unambiguous as if it had been written “and beat them” in English.

First it doesn’t say in the verse if a woman abuses her children you can beat her. It says a man is in charge of a woman and if she rebels he can beat her. So it’s about a woman that is not submissive to her husband. Secondly why this punishment is only mentioned about women in Quran, why there isn’t anything about in which circumstances a woman can beat her husband. If a woman feels that she’s neglected she has to reconcile it with her husband. The verse is about men being allowed to beat their wives and nothing this man and his ridiculous arguments can do to change that. Unless he doesn’t want to change it but just using taquiya to protect Islam!

So, basically Hijab was trying to argue in favor of some sort of moral relativism? He doesn't think there's any good reason, beyond cultural happenstance, that we think wife beating is wrong? The suffering that the beating would cause the woman, the psychological damage from the clear power imbalance in the relationship, the fact that it creates an atmosphere of violence in the household-- finding any of that wrong is unreasonable in Hijab's view? I really hope that these kinds of moral anti-realism go extinct.

Well said sir! Notably Mr Hijab still hasn't found the courage to respond to my post from over a year ago, which included: 1. We are told that the Quran is the perfect, unalterable and eternal word of Allah (God). Therefore the context of time and/or place is irrelevant! Your fallacy of presentism is completely spurious and irrelevant. 2. Sura 4:34 lets break this down for you as you seem incapable of doing so or fearful of doing so. A) If you fear rebellion (disobedience in other translations) =How insecure would a person have to be to consider imposing sanctions/beating a person because they fear (suspect in other translations) rebellion? B) Secondly, the rebellion/disobedience immediately implies that the man is the authority. Rebellion means to resist a leader/authority and disobedience is to refuse to obey rules of your master/someone in authority.

@Atlas9ne3 жыл бұрын
1-Islam asks both male and female to restrict themselves only to their spouses. 2-Islam, in the strongest manner possible, condemns every extra-marital relation. 3-The permission to (lightly) beat women is not unconditional, nor it is in every situation. Lets see the context of the that; Quran says: "....therefore the righteous women are devotedly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence What ALLAH would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, Admonish them (first), Next, refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); But if they turn to obedience, Seek not against them, means (of annoyance): For ALLAH is Most High, Great (above you all)." (Quran 4:34) This makes it absolutely clear that this permission is only when women become disloyal--And again reading from start makes it clear that disloyalty here means something below dignity of a modest and chaste woman. 4-When a woman indulges into such an act then of a surety she would not be to her husband as she ought to be. This can even possibly make her husband slip away form the right path and he may get involved somewhere else. If such a stage arrives then this would be havoc not only for the couple and their relations but for the society as a whole. And this permission is deterrence and a necessity against evil. It's allowed in extreme cases only: 1-Even in that case, to beat is the last option. First is to admonish, if this does not work then next step is to part from their beds, and if this also fails then is light beating. 2-And even if such a stage arrives then also their are restraints, "But if they turn to obedience, Seek not against them, Means of annoyance" 3-If at all a woman feels that she cannot live with her husband anymore, for any reason, she must get divorce and part, but as long as she is inside the marriage she must remain loyal to her husband even in his absence. For the mutual relation of the couple is the very basis of the society. An Important Instruction: When interpreting a verse we have to take in consideration the Hadith of Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). He said; "Fear Allah concerning women! Verily you have taken them on the security of Allah, and intercourse with them has been made lawful unto you by words of Allah. You too have right over them, and that they should not allow anyone to sit on your bed whom you do not like. But if they do that, (in that case) chastise them in a way that leaves no mark (i.e. not severe). Their rights upon you are that you should provide them with food and clothing in a fitting manner." (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2137) This shows it is more of a psychological thing then a physical one and the purpose is only to maintain the chastity and mutual love and affection of the spouses. If a wrong conduct of the woman is not checked then surely the relation will be adversely effected. Why there is no legislation for wife doing the same to her husband: Remember man can have legitimate second wife but woman can't have two legitimate husbands at a time for obvious reasons. Considering this and the more obvious psychological, physical differences and considering real life facts there is no legislation regarding wife admonishing her husband this way. She may take up the issue with the elders of both families to correct her husband. An unauthentic narration: Some people try to mislead by quoting a narration which goes as: Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab: The Prophet (pbuh) said: A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife. (Sunan Abu Dawud Hadith 2147. Albani classified it as Da’if i.e. unauthentic). Besides Albani, Ahmad Shakir and Shu’aib ‘Arna’ut also graded it Da’if in their respective classification of Musnad Ahmad. Ibn Kathir also criticized its chain in Musnad Al-Farooq 1/182.

I think the saying is,"to give a sucker an even brake".

I love watching Muslims contort themselves into more positions than the Kama Sutra, as it shows how inherently absurd Islam is . Because the Quran is the literal word of God, Muslims have no room to move in terms of interpreting the Quran. The Bible by contrast is inspired by God so it is much easier to contextualise it, specifically to its historical time and place, rather than understanding it as prescriptive for all time. Also the Bible is not just a pure book of instructions in the way the Quran is. Thus it can be interpreted in many different ways.

9:42 that's ridiculous. Lol 😂 i can't believe how some people believe in those people and listening to them seriously while I'm listening just to laugh.

That’s because you have been too corrupted by it to see that it’s completely and absolutely wrong, nonsensical, and evil!!

Who knows what is happening in Hijabs house? I'm really worried about how vicious and big maybe Mrs. Hijab is. Seems that she implikated a genaral fear of wemen inside him. And after his, over the past month, mentioned sexualy favors, I (shame on me) saw a 200 Kg woman sitting on his chest and he, wurling like a snake try to get her off. Oh my goodness!! I'll never get this out of my brain again!!
