What's important is that the story is consistent with its own rules. Even later down the line Dr. Stone still upholds a consistent power hierarchy. And it sticks to the exceptions it makes, it doesn't suddenly pull some bullshit out of its ass because it's convenient and then it is forgotten again. When the show establishes something, you can rely on it to be followed and brought up again. It's not 100% air-tight, because as a work of fiction it's obviously not perfect in that regard, but it comes damn close. Which is especially important for a show with such an emphasis on science.

I disagree with Moist Critikal on the fast pacing at the end. Sure, they do gloss over most of the things, but its not like they didn't take the time to actually explain it in detail how they did it, because they did, instead of briefly explaining it in like 2 seconds and moving onto the next objective. That, and they probably did it logically in order to not stretch the plot too long. Sure, at it's core, DR. Stone is really all about its character building and science thing, but most of the actual plot as well revolves around actual war, battles, and just high IQ plays that each side makes against the other which is one of my most favourite things other than the science part of DR. Stone. If DR. Stone was literally just about science, it would get boring real fast. That, and since by the end of the show, DR. Stone had infinitely much more members than he had when he first started, so logically, the parts where he did take a very long time to get - that's because he simply didn't have the manpower. In fact, the manpower problem was the literal main point of the first half of the anime. Now that they did have manpower, it would obviously infinitely speed things up, as well as the individual skills of each member that made the process more efficient as well. Plot-wise and meta-wise, I think the faster pacing of the show at the end was the best thing for them to do, instead of the bad.

Whats nice about Dr. Stone is that it is Shonen Jump material yet its not based on repetitive power level or inner energy stuff. Its much more down to earth, its got its moments, it has some action but its not too much or too little and it's not something where you scream at the protagonist to do something obvious to save himself. I give it 11/10, my second favorite series next to One Piece

I feel like their progress speeding up towards the end made a lot of sense. They had already improved their foundations and that made it easier to do shit faster. That's the point that the show keeps hammering into the viewer: scientific research will end up benefitting you even in other topics and after you completed the original goal
