@@samhein321 I'm a little late but I don't think you actually realize how demanded the DB story line is. It's part of the reason Tenkaichi 3 is widely regarded as the best one pre-Fighterz because even though the way they do the story is lazy, it still covers the most ground story wise. If they made a game like Kakarot that covered DB to Super and spice up the gameplay a little, it would be the most acclaimed DBZ game ever and I put my whole bank account on that. That and they need to bring back button combos to use moves, that shit was genius.

I agree that the combat is weak compared to other dbz games but the reason it's so well liked despite it's many flaws is because they at least TRIED to cover the whole story and the entire roster of characters. My point is that if they did all that AND put more effort into the combat and gameplay mechanics, it would be the greatest dbz game ever made. If bt3 succeeded in doing that, we wouldn't be having this conversation and fans wouldn't be vying for a better game. If they combined the gameplay of Budokai 3 and the content of bt3, we'd have a near perfect game.

Nah, he just wrote her out of the story. A bit l8r he realised he forgot he had done that, but couldn't think of a way to reintroduce her into the main cast. At some point she was supposed to have a cameo at the end of the Boo arc donating genki to Goku so he could defeat Majin Boo, but she didn't appear and instead the cameo was given go #17 which is why he claims to recognize Goku's voice despite having never met him. Toriyama just used the same speech bubble he was going to use for Lunch. I'm refering to the manga btw. She shows up a few times in filler throughout the DBZ anime. Years later he would go on to infamously state that he did forget her, however there is evidence that points to the contrary. He drew her in a chapter cover page during the saiyan arc and she's even featured in a short comic strip he did during the Namek arc. Not to mention he had some contributions to her filler in the Saiyan arc of Z as well. So in a nutshell Toriyama didn't forget Lunch, but later forgot he didn't forget her and thought he forgot her even though he didn't. Pretty simple, huh?😛

He himself mentions that he felt that Gohan wasn't fit for the role, and he was honestly right. There are so many myths in the DB community that people believe to be true. There's a clear difference between writing a character out of a story, and forgetting about it entirely.

I'm surprised you never mentioned the cutscenes and the voice acting. As a huge DB fan, it felt like every cutscene was done its justice. Goku turning ssj and fighting frieza felt amazing from dealing loads of damage and with how hard klunky the screen got, you felt like you had the strength of a ssj. Vegeta's attonement was an amazing cutscene, all the voice acting was on par and sometimes better than the anime. The open world was so fun to explore and go around places like Satan city and the budokai island. After all the dlc, i'd give it a strong 85-90% on the moist meter, this game hit home with all the nostalgia it gave me and the grind for missions never got super tedious/annoying for me

Just finished the game, enjoyed alot! 100% agree with Charlie. If you’re already a Dragon Ball fan, you’ll enjoy this game alot but if you aren’t, I don’t really see you rocking with the game that much. It does rely on nostalgia for some parts which it’s supposed to because it’s literally just the anime. On a 1-10 scale, I’d give it a 7. Still gotta 100% though.

elijah bates Saiyan Saga? You should get your dodge timing down. You can perfect dodge and it won’t cost any Ki. Also, when he uses Galick Gun, you can beam clash it with a Kamehameha. Takes timing but it’s a good counter. Finally, the main combo branch can be changed if you finish it with a different button. Hitting Triangle or Y will give you KI at the end of your combo. Real useful.

@elijah bates Another tip is to use the Kaioken, but VERY sparingly. For example, when Vegeta gets tired after one of his attacks, use that kaioken and throw a kamehameha right to his face. Right after that, stop the transformation to save some health and focus on dodging.

2:23 I personally was not a Dragon Ball fan before playing Kakarot, I didn't really think of it as cheesy, and it was the introduction I had to the DB franchise, and I've been a fan ever since, probably wasn't the best way to experience DB since I was just learning the dbz story from this game and never experienced the OG Dragon Ball series so I hadn't felt as attached to characters like Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, and Chaotzu. Although I have started streaming the OG Dragon Ball series, while it wasn't the best possible introduction I could've gotten to Dragon Ball, it was DBZ Kakarot I have to thank for getting me into it.

It's so good. No it's no witcher 3. But I didnt expect it to be. I've been having a blast, and that's enough for me. Theres more than 60 hours of content by the way. At least a hundred. It can get tedious if you just grind and grind. But the side stuff is fun to just go back to every once in a while. I find the side stuff to be charming which makes it fun. I like the little stories. Also, this last side mission I did gave me 300k xp. Most of them give you tens if thousands and later on hundreds of thousands. The story missions give you more xp because they try to make the levels match the story. It's why the characters get the xp boosts they get in different orders and in different missions and what not. Gohan becoming stronger than goku in the cell saga, vegeta being briefly stronger than everyone after the time chamber, piccolo getting his boosts whenever he fuses, ect ect ect. It matches the story and I actually appreciate that. And the side stuff is just to give you a few levels boost one way or the other. Also, can't wait for the super sequel. They could iron out so many of the small issues. Which is what I think the game needs. Super excited to see how they build offthis game. .

I've said this 100x before and I'll say it again. KAKAROT SHOULD'VE STARTED AT THE BEGINNING OF DRAGON BALL! They could've shown bardock and gine sending Goku to earth, basically foreshadow raditz Vegeta and nappa and maybe even broly which would set up a possible broly dlc, not only this I 100% feel like kid Goku fighting in the 360 arena with the power pole and him slowly growing into the fighter we know him to be today and actually introduce some people to the full story of dragon ball. I would say the base game is a solid 70% maybe. But the base game + the Trunks dlc, Bardock DLC, and Kid Goku DLC is a easy 90% and is one of the best DB games of all time.

Honestly the gameplay never got old for me but that’s probably because I’m a pretty big fan of dragon ball, I will say this though, a lot of the fights where you were getting attacked by multiple enemies were sometimes annoying because you couldn’t always tell when someone from behind was gonna attack you and in general they were just a lot less fun than fighting one powerful enemy.

The cutscenes in general were decent at best but the scenes that they needed to get right, they got right. They actually did a really good job at making the playable characters feel like they’re getting stronger. And all of the really important fights are arguably best portrayed in this game.

I was given money to buy something on my birthday. Ultimately decided to pre-order this game. Did I regret it? No. Do I like it? Yeah, it's great to play when you don't really have anything to do. I found it enjoyable, to be honest. Of all things, I never expected to say "I should gather the Dragon Balls" for anything. Though, I do agree that it should have started from OG Dragon Ball [this is coming from someone who NEVER grew up with it]. I feel like everyone could have used a breather on how Goku's journey started. But I guess you can't really have everything now, can you?

DeadMemes NeedToStayDead Calm the fuck down. I meant a more complex and fun combat system like of the Budokai games. Yes, more varied enemies, not the same 2 types of shitty robots. The side quests suck ass. Yes, more of the cinematic cutscenes (like the Recoome ones, Goku defeating Frieza, Gohan vs Cell, Gohan vs Super Buu, etc) and less of the fucking PPT slide shows, which are 99% of the cutscenes.

@@tricko8000 I was with you until you advocated for a Budokai fighting style. No. The combat is fine as it is. But the free world aspect is really bad. There should be far more enemies to fight at once in this game. They also should have allowed us to explore different planets with characters that have different morals. Imagine being able to play as Raditz and do whatever you want on a planet you are trying to conquer? Or imagine being a member of the Ginyu Force that has been tasked with defending a planet for Lord Frieza? There is a lot that they could have done but they justed wanted to tell the same story instead. It's a bit dissapointing. Maybe in DLC we will get something like that. But for now it's just the same story being told to us again. If you don't want any kind of innovation and want to relieve your childhood Kakarot is a 10/10 game. But in reality it is like a 7 or 8 out of 10.

@@tricko8000 You combine the supers to make combos. Also the supports can help with combos as well. I agree tho that combat can be improved, but bt3 is not a good example of that. Also the side quests are pretty good. They give you more lore on the world, help you level up, and get some nice items. The open world isn't bad, but it just feels like a way to get to point A and B

The game only deserves a 90% if your including the DLC's with score. The Trunks DLC is perhaps one of the greatest anime game DLC's in existence. Bardock DLC and teen goku dlc is not far behind either in terms of quality.

I particularly liked the tag feature it reminded me of the MK reboot with the tag ladder which I really thought was alot of fun mix that with how well they did the graphics and super moves ect I felt like I was actually fighting in the anime *fighterZ

My only gripe with the game is how some cut scenes break with audio or character animation stiffness. That and SSJ doesn't have it's own charge aura, but I still find such fun in this game. Oh- and no over 9k joke, but it doesn't matter to me for how much fun and detailed the game really is.
